Cultivation
Pro úspěšné pěstování svatolíny olivové je klíčový správný výběr stanoviště. Tato teplomilná trvalka pochází ze Středomoří, a proto jí v zahradě dopřejte to nejteplejší a nejslunnější místo, ideálně orientované na jih. Půda musí být výborně propustná, písčitá a spíše chudá na živiny. Těžkým a trvale zamokřeným půdám se obloukem vyhněte. Sazenice vysazujte na záhon ideálně na jaře, jakmile pominou hrozby přízemních mrazíků. Důležité je dodržet spon výsadby zhruba 40 centimetrů. Rostliny se brzy rozrostou do šířky a dostatečný prostor zajistí správnou cirkulaci vzduchu kolem listů, což přirozeně podporuje jejich zdravý růst.
Zálivka by měla být velmi střídmá. Zatímco čerstvě zasazené rostliny potřebují zpočátku mírnou zálivku pro dobré zakořenění, jakmile se uchytí, skvěle zvládají sucho. Hnojení zcela vynechte, v půdě bohaté na živiny by svatolína ztrácela svůj kompaktní tvar a její výhony by zbytečně vytahovaly. Svatolína olivová je navíc naprosto bezproblémová, co se týče pěstování – netrpí na žádné choroby a potěší vás i to, že roste zcela bez škůdců. Tuto aromatickou krásku můžete velmi úspěšně pěstovat i na terase. Pro pěstování v nádobách dodržujte tyto zásady:
- Zvolte květináč s odtokovými otvory a na dno umístěte silnější drenážní vrstvu.
- Běžný zahradnický substrát smíchejte s větším podílem písku nebo jemného štěrku.
- Zálivku provádějte až ve chvíli, kdy je zemina v květináči zcela proschlá.
Aby si keříky udržely svůj atraktivní hustý vzhled a vitalitu, vyžadují pravidelný řez. Každé jaro rostlinu seřízněte, čímž podpoříte rašení nových výhonů. Druhý, mírnější udržovací řez proveďte hned po odkvětu žlutých květů během léta. Na podzim se naopak stříhání vyhněte, starší výhony poskytují rostlině přirozenou ochranu. Svatolína je mrazuvzdorná až do -17 °C (klimatická zóna 7a), v zimě je ale velmi citlivá na přemokření kořenů. Jako zimní ochranu před silnými holomrazy a ostrým zimním sluncem se osvědčilo zakrytí keříků chvojím, které zároveň pomáhá odvádět přebytečnou vlhkost.
