Cornflower Tall Double Blue Boy, Loukykvět

Centaurea cyanus

The blue cornflower is an absolute classic of our fields and meadows, which probably needs no lengthy introduction. However, the 'Tall Double Blue Boy' variety brings something extra. Compared to its wild relatives that we see along roads, it boasts rich flowers in an unmistakable, deep blue shade, sometimes with a purple tone. You can hardly imagine anything more meadow-like. Thanks to its strong stems growing up to eighty centimeters tall, this annual is perfectly suited for cutting, adding true rustic charm to bouquets. But its use doesn't end in the vase. The flowers keep their fantastic color even after drying! At weddings, we loved using them in flower crowns and corsages, where they have excellent stamina! The petals are edible. They serve perfectly as an original garnish for summer salads, desserts, or festive cakes. Moreover, in the garden, it functions as a reliable magnet for bees and bumblebees, who simply go crazy for its nectar.

Cosmos Apricot Lemonade, Loukykvět

Cosmos bipinnatus

Cosmos 'Apricot Lemonade' brings a novel palette of colors to summer gardens and is easy to grow from seed, even if you are a complete beginner. While these annuals were previously known mostly in white and pink, this cultivar surprises with delicate pastel tones of peach, yellow, and powder pink. It won us over immediately and has become an indispensable part of our flower plantings. The plant forms dense clumps with typical linear leaves and grows quite tall, so it benefits from support in the flower bed. From early summer until October, it is covered in a profusion of gentle flowers that soften every space and provide food for beneficial pollinators. If you like creating your own bouquets, you will be thrilled, as they look absolutely magical in a vase. The ideal time for sowing begins in April with indoor starting, or you can sow directly in a sunny spot from May to July.

Feverfew Crown White, Loukykvět

Tanacetum parthenium

Bred feverfew, the inflorescence consists only of tubular florets, i.e., a center without ray florets or petals. Crown White is a commonly grown species in Holland and sells great at the flower exchange. It is therefore professional seed, but don't worry, we tested it and it can be grown both outdoors and in a polytunnel; both work perfectly. Crown White has slightly longer tubular flowers, giving a disheveled impression. The color is pure, bright white.

Snapdragon Frappe Apricot, Loukykvět

Antirrhinum majus

Great news for all Snapdragon lovers! Finally, a new "open-faced" Snapdragon has appeared on the market, meaning an open flower instead of the classic Snapdragon "mouth". And the second piece of good news is that we immediately added it to our assortment! The Chantilly series of open-faced Snapdragons seems to be unavailable long-term, so we are glad to have a replacement for you. And it seems to be an even greater replacement. The stems are robust, the plants tall—for us, true cut-flower quality! And the list of good news doesn't end there, because Frappe Apricot is the most beautiful color that appeared in our beds in 2024! It blooms in colors of dusty yellow, a shade of sand, and the buds and lower parts of the flowers turn pink. And that is a bomb combination! The color is truly unprecedented, so it will make every arrangement and bouquet special. It goes great with both cool and warm colors. Our favorite combination was: Snapdragon Frappe Apricot, Feverfew, Sea Oats, and Rhodanthe Pierrot White.

Vaccaria Pink Beauty, Loukykvět

Saponaria vaccaria

Saponaria vaccaria, or cow soapwort 'Pink Beauty', is a reliable annual that brings a romantic and airy element to summer flower beds. It easily makes up for its unconventional name with a rich profusion of tiny, pastel-pink flowers that bring a sense of lightness to the garden. These appear on sturdy stems sixty to ninety centimeters tall during the summer months, from June to September. The delicate flowers not only look beautiful and soften the surrounding plantings, but they also act as a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, which will naturally enliven your garden. For healthy growth, cow soapwort appreciates a bright location, but it can grow in light shade without any problems. It looks very elegant in the garden, and thanks to its structure—reminiscent of baby's breath—it combines perfectly with more robust types of flowers, for which it makes a delicate background. You can confidently cut three to four richly branched stems from each plant. They will bring great joy even if you simply place them in small vases in your living room. Cow soapwort grows and blooms very quickly from seeds, which in practice means that it also fades a bit faster. If you want to enjoy its delicate pink flowers in the bed and in the vase for as long as possible, it is worth sowing the seeds in stages. You can perform direct sowing from February to May in several consecutive phases. Even complete beginners can thus have fresh cut flowers available throughout the season.

Larkspur QIS White, Loukykvět

Delphinium consolida

Delphinium consolida, known better as Larkspur, is a typical annual for both country and modern gardens. The 'QIS White' cultivar stands out with pure white flowers that densely cover long, straight stems. These can grow up to one hundred and twenty centimeters in height, creating an interesting layer in the flower bed and adding airiness to the space. The pure white color acts as a great neutral element that easily connects even very colorful flowers in the vicinity. These are wonderful spring beauties that are hard to beat at the turn of spring and summer. They are very easy to grow from seeds and pose no major challenge for beginners. In floristry, they are suitable for wedding bouquets and for drying. For a perfect cut, you must be quick and harvest the stems before all the buds have fully opened. We recommend sowing the seeds gradually at two-week intervals during the spring or at the end of summer so you can enjoy the beauty of these flowers for as long as possible.

Cosmos Kiiro, Loukykvět

Cosmos bipinnatus

The Kiiro cultivar represents an unusually charming variant of the very popular classic Cosmos. Its flowers continuously shine with unusual shades of pastel yellow and white color, making it an exceptional feature for any summer garden. The plant forms airy small bushes with thread-like leaves and reaches an impressive height of 60 to 120 centimeters. From June to September, it produces an incredible flood of flowers that unerringly attract plenty of pollinators to the garden. In garden design, it is excellently applied in mixed flower beds in full sun or in light partial shade with medium watering. Due to its height and the fragility of the stems, it is advisable to think about early support. Cosmos are prized in floristry because they add a unique airiness to bouquets. Moreover, they willingly self-seed in the flower bed for the next season. Starting to grow this annual from seeds is easy even for novices. Plan your sowing from April to July. Always cover the seeds with a thin layer of substrate. They germinate willingly and very quickly, usually within 4 to 8 days. Pinch the seedlings in time to create a bushier plant.

Peony Coral Sunset, Loukykvět

Paeonia

Peonies are valuable in gardens for their large and impressive flowers. They are long-lived perennials for patient gardeners. It takes them several years to grow to full beauty and for you to see rich flowering. Therefore, a blooming Peony right in the first year after planting is more of an exception, certainly not the rule. To flower, it needs proper conditions in addition to time. Study our growing guide. Herbaceous garden Peonies are one of the longest-cultivated garden plants, and most cultivars originate from Chinese and medicinal Peonies, which have long been part of monastery gardens. Today we combine them with perennials, grasses, and bulbs. However, we always give them enough space in the bed. 'Coral Sunset' has the largest proportion of warm orange of all coral Peonies and also the strongest stems in its color group, which easily support large buds and subsequently semi-double fragrant flowers. It impresses with its gradual color transformation from coral tones to cream.

Peony Poppy Black, Loukykvět

Papaver paeoniflorum

Dark burgundy color is always trendy for wedding floristry. At the turn of spring and summer, large full flowers are missing. The last ranunculus fade and there is a lot of time left before the first Dahlias bloom. At our farm, it was always a struggle to find beautiful full and large flowers for bouquets at that time. But we succeeded! We filled the vacuum with China asters and peony-type poppies. These poppies reliably replace the peony, ranunculus, and Dahlia. You just have to keep in mind that they don't last long in bloom and need a little care to hold in a bouquet. We harvest a cracked bud, scald the ends of the stems for a few seconds in water, and let them finish blooming in a vase.

Sunflower ProCut White Lite, Loukykvět

Sunflower comes from the sunny plains of North America and is an inseparable part of our gardens as a symbol of summer. The 'ProCut White Lite' variety brings a pleasant refreshment to the yellow assortment in the form of creamy light yellow flowers with an attractive greenish-yellow center. It does not produce pollen, so you can use it in interior decorations without worrying about allergies. In the garden, it grows to a height of eighty to one hundred and twenty centimeters. The path to your own flowers begins with seeds, which are easy to work with and provide quick results. Ideally, start the sunflower seeds by pre-growing them in the warmth for one to two weeks. Covered seeds will germinate in five to ten days. Then, transplant them into sun or partial shade. You can repeat sowings from April to August, which will cause them to bloom gradually from July to autumn. Do not pinch the plants, but provide support for straight stems. Fresh flowers last a long time in a vase and will delight lovers of clean bouquets.

With this Dahlia, it is doubly true that the more you cut, the more it blooms. Beautiful, straight, sturdy stems—born for cutting.

Dahlia Wine Eyed Jill, Loukykvět

Dahlia

Love at first sight for everyone! Definitely on the list of the 10 most popular; it gets cut so much that it's a problem to find enough flowers to photograph. We don't grow many multi-colored varieties, but in this case, we have to admit that the combination of pink, powder, and burgundy can never be wrong! It can't be combined with every color, but for wedding work, it is an absolutely genius piece!

Dahlia Souvenir D’eté, Loukykvět

Dahlia

It blooms like crazy, so it's necessary to frequently deadhead faded blooms to keep it looking beautiful. The plants grow low but are still great for cutting. A ball Dahlia blooming on contrasting darker stems. The center of the flower, as is typical, is darker than the rest, which occasionally fades to almost an apricot-pink. A beautiful, energetic Dahlia; we think it fits perfectly into autumn arrangements.

Dahlia Black Jack, Loukykvět

Dahlia

We are always looking for new varieties in dark burgundy, almost black, as it is a trendy wedding color. Black Jack is a serious candidate! The flowers are giant, and the petals are pointed. The leaves are captivatingly dark, so it delights not only in a vase but also in the flowerbed. It generally blooms as one of the last Dahlias; it takes its time. Therefore, we do not recommend it for higher altitudes; for farms, it is ideal to grow it in a polytunnel.

Dahlia

The flowers are giant, in shades of light lavender-pink that fades at the tips of the petals. The petal shape gives it a quite unique look. Since the tips aren't pointed, but rather rounded and elongated into a long teardrop shape, it looks quite princess-like. A perfect piece for weddings!
