It just blooms later in the season, so we recommend protected spots where it will survive the first autumn frosts.

Pěstování jiřiny Linda’s Baby začíná výběrem vhodného stanoviště, které by mělo být slunné, s dobře propustnou a humózní půdou. Vysazujeme ven až v době, kdy nehrozí přízemní mrazíky, tedy obvykle od poloviny května do června. Hlízu sázejte do hloubky přibližně 10–15 cm, položte ji vodorovně, očkem (místem, kde začíná stonek) směrem nahoru.
Zahrňte zeminou tak, aby nad „krčkem“ hlízy bylo cca 5 cm půdy. Dodržujte spon 30–50 cm, aby měly rostliny dostatek prostoru.
Pokud chcete kvetení uspíšit, můžete hlízy předpěstovat v květináčích už od března na světlém a bezmrazém místě, což vám zajistí dřívější kvetení a silnější rostliny.

Jakmile uvidíte, že jiřiny začínají mít první poupata, doporučujeme přestat hnojit dusíkem a šáhnout po hnojivu s převahou draslíku (K). Draslík zajistí, aby rostlina bujně kvetla, zesílí stonky a pomůže kořenovému systému. Z ekologických hnojiv můžete použít např. ProKton, nebo Free PK. Ze syntetických hnojiv pak zvolit Kristalon plod a květ, nebo kterékoliv jiné hnojivo, kde na složení převahuje K. Kristalon plod a květ má složení NPK 15-5-30, tzn. draslíku (K) je v něm 2× více.
Pro maximální výdrž ve váze je nutné dodržet správný postup sklizně. Jiřiny se po uříznutí již příliš nerozvíjejí, proto je nesklízejte příliš brzy. Ideální čas je, když jsou květy otevřené zhruba ze tří čtvrtin. Vždy zkontrolujte zadní stranu květu – okvětní lístky by měly být pevné a svěží. Pro prodloužení životnosti ponořte konce stonků ihned po řezu na minimálně 15 minut do horké vody o teplotě 70–80 °C . Tento trik zajistí, že si Linda’s Baby udrží svou krásu ve váze cca týden.
Protože jiřiny nejsou mrazuvzdorné, končí jejich sezóna s příchodem prvních mrazíků, které spálí nadzemní část. To je signál k vykopání hlíz. Opatrně je vyjměte rýčem, očistěte od hrubých nečistot a nechte oschnout. Skladujte je v bezmrazé, chladné a tmavé místnosti, ideálně v bedýnce s pískem nebo pilinami. Během zimy hlízy kontrolujte, zda neplesniví. Pokud si chcete rostliny namnožit, můžete na jaře využít řízkování z narašených hlíz nebo dělení trsů před výsadbou.
Při pěstování buďte ostražití vůči slimákům, kteří mladé výhonky milují. A dokážou je úplně zlikvidovat. Pokud nepomůže sběr slimáků, ani babské rady, sáhněte po Ferramolu.
