Cultivation
Pěstování jiřiny Stolze von Berlin je ideální i pro začátečníky. Základem je slunné stanoviště a dobře propustná, humózní půda. Hlízy vysazujeme ven až v květnu nebo červnu, kdy už nehrozí přízemní mrazíky. Pro dřívější kvetení si je ale můžete předpěstovat v květináčích na světlém místě už od března. Hlízu sázejte vodorovně do hloubky 10-15 cm tak, aby očko, tedy místo budoucího stonku, směřovalo nahoru. Nad krčkem hlízy by mělo zůstat zhruba 5 cm zeminy. Nezapomeňte dodržet spon 30-50 cm, aby měly rostliny dostatek životního prostoru pro svůj zdravý růst.
Během vegetace potřebuje tato odrůda pravidelnou, ale mírnou zálivku, nesnáší totiž dlouhodobé přemokření. Jelikož dorůstá výšky 80-160 cm, je opora naprostou nutností. Ideální je použití sloupků s provázkem, které zabrání zlomení stonků. Velmi důležitým krokem je zaštipování – jakmile má rostlina několik párů listů, odstraňte vrcholový výhonek. Tím podpoříte tvorbu postranních větví a rostlina bude mnohem bohatší. Pro bujný růst začněte s hnojivy s vyšším podílem dusíku a při nasazení prvních poupat přejděte na hnojiva s převahou draslíku, která podpoří kvetení a celkově zesílí stonky.
Pro bohatou sklizeň růžových pomponků nezapomínejte na pravidelné odstraňování odkvetlých květů přímo na rostlině. Tento jednoduchý úkon jiřinu prokazatelně stimuluje k tvorbě dalších nových poupat a prodlouží kvetení až do pozdního podzimu. Květy určené k řezu sklízejte v momentě, kdy jsou ze tří čtvrtin otevřené a okvětní lístky na zadní straně jsou krásně pevné. Ve váze už se totiž více nerozvinou. Pro prodloužení výdrže ve váze ponořte seříznuté konce stonků na 15 minut do horké vody o teplotě 70-80 °C. Tento drobný trik prodlouží jejich svěžest zhruba na jeden týden.
Při pěstování si dejte pozor na slimáky, kteří s velkou oblibou likvidují mladé výhonky, a také na třásněnky či zrádný virus mozaiky. Napadené rostliny virem je bohužel nutné rovnou odstranit. S příchodem prvních mrazů letní sezóna končí.
Protože jiřiny v našich podmínkách nezimují, jakmile první podzimní mrazíky spálí nadzemní část rostliny, přichází čas na vykopání hlíz. Vykopávejte je opatrně pomocí rýče, abyste hlízy nepoškodili, očistěte je od přebytečné zeminy a nechte je zlehka oschnout. Uskladněte je na suchém, temném a hlavně bezmrazém místě, ideálně zasypané v bedýnce s pískem nebo pilinami. Pokud byste chtěli tuto odrůdu rozmnožit, můžete velké a starší hlízy před jarní výsadbou rozdělit, případně v předjaří využít metodu řízkování z mladých narašených výhonů.
