Strawflower Salmon, Loukykvět
For drying

Helichrysum bracteatum

A divine cocktail of sunset colors. From light champagne and apricot to salmon. The Strawflower is a classic from grandma's garden but also a staple for dried flowers. We love using them for weddings because they don't wilt. They are suitable for corsages, wreaths, and buttonholes. For drying, harvest flowers that are not yet fully open, when the yellow center is not yet visible. Also check the stem below the flower; it should already be firm, not 'rubbery'. Just hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place out of direct sunlight.

Helichrysum bracteatum

Strawflower is a classic from grandma's garden but also an evergreen of dried flowers. We love using them when binding weddings because they don't wilt. They fit into corsages, wreaths, and buttonholes. Shades of cream and white. For drying, we harvest flowers that are not yet fully open, when the yellow center cannot be seen yet. At the same time, we look at the stem under the flower; it should already be firm, not "rubbery". Just hang them upside down in a dry and ventilated place, away from sunlight.

Red Valerian Rosato Rose Pink, Loukykvět

Centranthus ruber

The 'Rosato Rose Pink' valerian is a richly flowering perennial whose original homeland is the sunny and warm Mediterranean. It grows there on rocky slopes, and therefore, even in your garden, it will appreciate rather poorer, well-drained sandy or loamy soil in direct sun. The seedling you receive from us in a pot simply needs to be transplanted into the flowerbed, where it will quickly form an airy bush with gray-green leaves up to one meter tall. It is completely undemanding, does not need support, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and can handle frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. Although it belongs among short-lived perennials, it reliably self-seeds in a suitable location. Among perennials, valerian has an unrivaled longest blooming period. From May to September, it forms convex panicles full of tiny, fragrant florets in a vibrant raspberry pink shade, which are an attraction for bees and butterflies. It fits perfectly into drought-tolerant plantings. For bouquets, we cut sturdy stems with freshly bloomed panicles, which will last around seven days in a vase.

Phlox Minnehaha, Loukykvět

Phlox amplifolia

Phlox Minnehaha, also known as garden phlox, is originally a native perennial of North America that established a firm position in European gardens back in the 19th century. This particular variety is characterized by its high resilience and, unlike many other perennials, it holds up well even in competition with the root systems of shrubs or in slight shade. The flower color transitions from a delicate reddish-purple to light pink, with the color saturation gradually decreasing towards the center with a small red eye. It is a classic plant for cutting into bouquets, where, in addition to its colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest them as soon as about half of the flowers in the cluster are blooming; then they can last up to ten days in a vase. Thanks to a long blooming period from June to September, it will be an ornament of your flowerbeds throughout the entire season.

Lobelia Queen Victoria, Loukykvět

Lobelia fulgens

Lobelia Queen Victoria is an unmissable perennial for lovers of vibrant colors and striking contrasts. Its original homeland is the moister regions of North and Central America, so in your garden as well, it will appreciate more abundant watering and humous, well-drained loamy soil. If you provide it with a sunny to semi-shady location, it will reward you with radiant carmine-red flowers from August to October. These create a perfect spectacle in combination with dark burgundy to bronze leaves and sturdy stems that reach a height of just under one meter. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant directly into the flowerbed. Here it perfectly complements plants with similar moisture requirements. The flowers act as a reliable magnet for bees and other pollinators, and you can also cut them for a vase, where they will liven up your interior. Growing this short-lived perennial requires a little more attention, especially when it comes to protection from slugs, which like to feast on it. Before winter, it is also good to keep in mind that its frost resistance reaches minus fifteen degrees, and to provide it with suitable protection. Also remember that all parts of the lobelia are poisonous, so it is advisable to consider the planting location with regard to pets.

Fountain grasses originate from East Asia, where they grow in meadows and light forests. They form hemispherical clumps of narrow leaves which, like the flowers, color up in the autumn. Phlox Fujiyama, Loukykvět

Phlox paniculata

Phlox is originally a native perennial of North America. In European gardens, it soon reached great popularity and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cutting into bouquets, where besides colorful flowers, it also delights with a gentle fragrance. We harvest as soon as roughly half of the flowers in the cluster have bloomed, then it lasts up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars possible, it is still true that phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we carefully ensure the correct choice of site. Fujiyama is now a classic and still popular variety bred in the USA in 1965. The elegant flowers are tiny, pure white. It blooms very abundantly.

Sedum Matrona, Loukykvět

Sedum spectabile

Showy stonecrop is one of the longest-living and hardiest perennials you can treat your garden to. It originally comes from the Far East, where it colonizes sunny and dry slopes. For successful cultivation, you simply need to find it a spot in direct sun with well-drained sandy soil. The 'Matrona' cultivar catches the eye at first glance with its fleshy, grayish-green leaves with a burgundy tinge and sturdy stems that do not break and need no support. We will deliver a mature potted seedling that you can easily transplant straight into the flowerbed after unpacking. We recommend planting five to seven plants per square meter; they will soon join into a solid stand around seventy centimeters tall. From August to October, it will then delight you with rich, flat inflorescences in an old rose color. It is an ideal choice for those looking for beauty without unnecessary effort. This stonecrop easily survives harsh winters with frosts dropping to minus twenty-eight degrees, and pests and diseases avoid it. The 'Matrona' variety differs from others in that it will reliably grow even in more nutritious soil, provided it is not waterlogged. In perennial compositions, it creates a beautiful contrast next to delicate ornamental grasses and other autumn flowers. During sunny days, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators constantly take turns over its flowers. You can boldly use the sturdy stems with pink umbels for cutting. They stay fresh in a vase for quite a long time and will bring a touch of the slowly ending summer into your home. It might surprise you that the leaves of this stonecrop are edible and can be used to garnish dishes. If you decide not to cut the plant back in the autumn, you will get a perfect structure in the flowerbed that will last all winter. Especially when the old flowers are covered in frost, they provide a breathtaking spectacle right until the spring months.

Dahlia Linda’s Baby, Loukykvět

Dahlia

'Linda’s Baby' is among the greatest beauties in the assortment of ball dahlias. For us, it is on the list of our top ten favorite varieties! Its medium-sized flowers combine delicacy and playfulness, which is why so many brides and florists have fallen in love with it. The color is changeable and hard to define with one word; pastel and coral pink mix with apricot reflections and transition into light salmon tones. It is precisely this ability to change shade according to the light that makes it an indispensable treasure for wedding bouquets. Like other ball varieties, it has the longest vase life of all dahlia types. You can support this by searing the stems after harvesting.
