It is characterized by the color variability of its flowers throughout the day. On cool mornings, the flowers are blue; as temperatures rise, they fade and by noon they turn violet-pink.

Aloysia, also known as lemon verbena, is a portable potted plant. It is grown primarily for the distinctive lemon scent of its leaves. In summer, it blooms with tiny white flowers. Originating from South America, it has been cultivated in Europe since the 17th century as a source of essential oils used in perfume production, as a culinary herb, and as a fragrant tea ingredient.
