We recommend planting White Magic tulip bulbs as soon as possible after receiving them. If the weather does not permit this, store them temporarily in a cool, dry, and dark place so they do not start sprouting prematurely. Planting itself ideally takes place during September, October, and November, when the soil is not yet frozen but is already cooling down. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded location for them, where their bright white color will beautifully illuminate the space. The soil should be permeable, loamy, and rich in humus. In heavier clay soils, we recommend adding a little sand to ensure better drainage and thus prevent the bulbs from rotting during wetter months.
When planting, place the bulbs at a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters with the pointed end facing up. To create a truly rich and unified stand, maintain spacing of roughly 10 to 15 centimeters, which corresponds to about 40 to 60 bulbs per square meter. Water them slightly immediately after planting so the soil adheres better to the roots and supports their initial growth before the frosts arrive. You do not need to worry about winterizing at all; this variety is highly frost-resistant and can easily withstand temperatures dropping down to -34 °C. They will calmly survive even the harshest winter months underground and will delight you with reliable sprouting in the spring.
During April and May, when the plants reach a height of 35 to 45 centimeters and bloom, keep the soil slightly moist. Tulips prefer moderate watering, so water them more when the spring season is unusually dry. If you want to use the flowers in a vase, cut the stems when the buds begin to show color. After flowering, it is absolutely crucial to leave all the green leaves to naturally yellow and dry out. The plant draws vital nutrients back from them into the bulb for the next season. As a precaution, check the plants occasionally; excessive moisture could lead to the development of gray mold or Fusarium rot. Rarely, a mosaic virus may appear, so pay attention to the cleanliness of your tools and remove any affected plants immediately.
The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse. We always recommend testing how the plant performs in your conditions. Please do not take this as a guarantee.
