Burnet is a native meadow plant that naturally grows in damp meadows. In mid-summer, branched stems with small dark red flower heads rise from the foliage of pinnate leaves. They create unusual shape and color accents in flower beds and bouquets. Great burnet is a vital plant for the Scarce Large Blue butterfly. In the garden, it fits into naturalistic plantings with grasses and other perennials. It adds lightness and airiness to bouquets. Lasts 7 to 10 days in a vase.
