Stipa tenuissima

Mexican Feather Grass Pony Tails

Feather grass flowers attract attention in flowerbeds and bouquets with their lightness and delicacy. All feather grasses love full sun and dry, stony, well-drained soil. To look as natural as possible in flowerbeds, it is good to plant them in several pieces in loose groups together with other drought-loving perennials and bulbs. Only then will their stems and inflorescences, set in motion by the slightest breath of wind, stand out. Feather grass Ponny Tails is a species originally from the steppes of Mexico, Texas, and Patagonia. Airy dense tufts of hair-like fine leaves resemble horsehair. The leaves are green, turning up to straw-colored towards the flowers. In a suitable location, it even self-seeds. Show full description

Wild Strawberry, Loukykvět
New

Fragaria vesca

Wild strawberry brings the magic of forest glades and sunny clearings to the garden, where it naturally occurs across all of Europe and northern Asia. This tiny but perennial herb is prized primarily for its incredibly aromatic fruits, which may not compete with cultivated garden strawberries in size, but easily surpass them in their intense flavor and aroma. The plant forms low cushions of deep green trifoliate leaves, and from April to June, it is decorated with tiny, pure white flowers that are an irresistible attraction for bees and other pollinators. Thanks to its undemanding nature and frost resistance down to -35 °C, it is an ideal choice even for beginner growers. In the garden, wild strawberry serves perfectly as a groundcover perennial that spreads quickly via long runners and can effectively suppress weeds. It thrives best in sun or partial shade, where it has access to humus-rich and slightly moist soil, exactly what it would find in the undergrowth of light deciduous forests. It is suitable for natural corners of the garden, under shrubs, or as edging for flowerbeds, where you can pick a sweet reward at any time. Although you won't use it much for cutting into a vase or for drying, its value lies in its living beauty and edible fruits, which ripen gradually and offer the purest taste of nature right in your home.

Fleabane Blütenmeer, Loukykvět
New

Erigeron karvinskianus

Fleabane Blütenmeer is an ethereal, short-lived perennial that came to us all the way from Mexico, bringing unbridled lightness to European gardens. It looks like a flood of tiny daisies that gradually change color from pure white to soft pink, so you will see a diverse palette of shades on a single plant simultaneously. It is perfectly suited for growing on sunny rockeries, in dry stone walls, or even in containers, where it forms profusely blooming cushions. Although it is a short-lived plant, in well-drained soil it often maintains itself through self-seeding, so you will enjoy its beauty in the garden repeatedly. Moreover, the flowers tirelessly attract bees and other pollinators from early summer until the first frosts. You can also harvest them for tiny vases, where their delicate little flowers will complement the atmosphere of your home.

Lesser Calamint, Loukykvět
New

Calamintha nepeta ssp. nepeta

An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking long time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that emit a minty, spicy fragrance. Thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe flowerbeds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is overall more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with downy leaves by its record length of flowering, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore extremely long-lasting. It is sometimes sold under the cultivar name 'Triumphator'.

Hollyhock Chaters Chamois, Loukykvět
New

Alcea rosea plena

Hollyhocks are a must-have for every lover of a rustic atmosphere. We traditionally associate them with sunny grandmother's gardens, although they reached Europe with ancient travelers along the Silk Road all the way from the steppes of Central Asia. And the hollyhock's desire to travel has remained. It often self-seeds, and you will find it in a place where you definitely didn't plant it. Naturally, it is a biennial or short-lived perennial. However, its impermanence is balanced by beautiful double flowers and a striking silhouette and height. It is suitable for cutting and was also used for dyeing and as a medicinal plant. The Chater's series includes proven varieties with pompon-like double flowers.

A verbena species originally from South America. In our country, it is often used as an annual, but in mild winters it can overwinter and reproduce by self-seeding. Dahlia Café Au Lait, Loukykvět

Dahlia

Dahlia Café Au Lait is an absolute icon among dahlias and unrivaled as the best-selling item on our farm. Its huge flowers, often reaching the size of a dinner plate, cannot be overlooked. The color is completely unique and changeable, ranging in soft shades of creamy white, milky coffee, and powder pink, occasionally with a hint of salmon. Thanks to this specific coloring, it is loved by all brides and florists, as it fits perfectly into wedding bouquets and magnificent arrangements. In a vase, it looks majestic, and even a single flower can light up an entire room. In the garden, this variety forms a dominant element that attracts attention at first glance. The plants grow to a respectable height, often over a meter and a half, so it is advisable to provide them with support so they do not break under the weight of the massive blooms. It blooms tirelessly from July until the first frosts, and its pastel tones soften any perennial planting. If you are looking for a plant that adds structure to flower beds while providing premium cutting material, Café Au Lait is the clear choice.

Gaura, Loukykvět

Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura is a charming clump-forming perennial whose original homeland is the sunny plains of Texas and Louisiana. In the garden, it will appreciate exactly the conditions it is used to from nature, meaning full sun and well-drained, even poorer and sandy soil. A sturdy clump that grows to a height of around eighty centimeters will grow from the seedling you receive. It belongs among the very undemanding plants for beginners, which are completely avoided by diseases and pests. Although it behaves more like a short-lived perennial here, it willingly self-seeds in a suitable location. The tiny little flowers colored in pure white and light pink shades resemble small butterflies and bloom tirelessly from June all the way to October. It adds extraordinary lightness and airiness to flower beds, making it combine beautifully with ornamental grasses. During its long months of blooming, gaura is constantly surrounded by bees, for which it represents a rich food source. The flowers are perfectly suited for cutting into summer bouquets. We harvest the stems for vases as soon as the first two to three little flowers open on the stem. On the contrary, the plant is not suitable for drying.

Dill, Loukykvět

Anethum graveolens

Dill is an indispensable annual whose fragrance belongs to summer. It originates from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, where it grows in sunny locations. In our gardens, it thrives best in direct sun in well-draining, humus-rich soil with moderate watering. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant directly to your chosen spot with a spacing of about forty centimeters. The plant grows to a height of fifty to one hundred centimeters. Dill appreciates slight shading of its roots, so it does excellently in mixed plantings together with vegetables and ornamental perennials. During the summer, it forms striking umbels composed of tiny yellow edible flowers. These are a strong attraction for beneficial insects and reliably attract pollinators. It is a completely undemanding plant for beginners, and it does not suffer from pests or diseases. You can use the sturdy stems for cutting into fresh summer bouquets, or you can easily dry them for floristry purposes. In suitable places, it will maintain itself through natural self-seeding.

Currant Mint, Loukykvět

Menta spp.

Currant mint is an absolute treasure for every lover of herbs and summer refreshment. With its fruity taste and aroma, it is suited for sweet summer drinks, ice creams, and sorbets. Common types of mint primarily originate from the more humid regions of Europe and Asia, which is why this species will also appreciate more humous, loamy soil in your garden that can retain medium moisture. It thrives best in the sun or light partial shade. From our grown seedling in a pot, which you just need to transplant right into your chosen spot in the bed, a rich clump will quickly grow, reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. From July to September, its dark green leaves with a purple tinge form a beautiful backdrop for tiny lilac inflorescences, which act as a huge attraction for bees and other pollinators. Even complete beginners will easily handle growing it; the plant is disease-free and effortlessly survives frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. During regular care, just occasionally check if the mint leaf beetle isn't feasting on it. Currant mint is also excellent for cutting. Its aromatic stems will add structure and fragrance to smaller fresh bouquets, where they will last about seven days, and they are also wonderfully useful when dried for various florist purposes or homemade tea blends.

Gaura Siskiyou Pink, Loukykvět

Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura Siskiyou Pink is a charming perennial that brings lightness and airiness to the garden. Its original native area is in the warm regions of Texas and Louisiana, which is why it thrives in full sun and well-drained sandy soil. It grows in clumps and from June until the autumn frosts produces tiny raspberry-pink flowers that resemble fluttering butterflies. An interesting detail of this variety is the green leaves with a bronze tint and red spots. It is an absolutely undemanding plant, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and even beginners can handle its care. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply need to transplant directly into the flowerbed. Here it complements ornamental grasses perfectly and acts as an attraction for bees and bumblebees. Although it grows more as a short-lived perennial in our climate, in a suitable place it reliably self-seeds. Occasional pinching will encourage richer branching. Gaura is excellent for summer bouquets. We cut the stems for a vase as soon as the first two to three little flowers open.

Thyme Pink Chintz, Loukykvět

Thymus serpyllum

Sun-warmed soil and the intense scent of herbs in the air—that is exactly what thyme reliably evokes in the garden. This highly resilient creeping perennial naturally grows in dry meadows and rocky steppes, where it has adapted to harsher conditions and a lack of moisture. It is therefore excellently suited for all sunny locations with well-drained, sandy soil. The advantage of this tiny herb is its incredible hardiness and ability to survive severe winter frosts; moreover, it doesn't suffer from pests or diseases. Any beginner can handle its care. The shipment contains a grown seedling, which you simply plant in its final spot about twenty-five centimeters apart. It works perfectly as a ground cover plant that quickly fills empty spaces in rockeries or narrow gaps between stepping stones. In July and August, it blooms with a multitude of tiny flowers, to which pollinators joyfully flock. The 'Pink Chintz' variety is popular for its fresh green leaves with tiny hairs and a rich flood of pink flowers. Both flowers and leaves can be excellently dried and will retain their strong aroma all winter long.

Basil African Blue, Loukykvět
Fragrant

Ocimum basilicum

African Blue basil is an interesting and perennial herb that will reliably surprise you with its properties. Unlike common annual species, it grows as a sturdy shrub with a woody stem. Its origin dates back to warmer regions, so it loves full sun and well-drained soil. In our conditions, we grow it as a container plant because it cannot handle winter frosts. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant into the garden or a larger container. When planting, keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters. The plant does not suffer from pests or diseases, so care is suitable even for complete beginners. From June to September, it is covered in purple flowers, which are a huge attraction for bees and bumblebees. A great advantage is its unmistakable aroma and purple-burgundy leaves. Compared to classic basils, it has a slightly spicier, camphor-like touch and is fully edible. The great news is that it doesn't lose its fragrance even after drying for floristic purposes. It will decorate summer bouquets in a vase, adding an interesting structure to them.

Catananche caerulea

Catananche caerulea, also known as Cupid's dart, is a charming plant that will win you over with its lightness and airiness. Its scientific name refers to old Greek legends, according to which it was used in love potions; today, however, you will appreciate it more for its undemanding nature and unique appearance. It is perfectly suited for natural-style gardens, gravel beds, and drought-tolerant plantings, where it beautifully complements other perennials or ornamental grasses. It grows to a height of up to ninety centimeters and, despite its height, needs no support. The flowers are lavender blue with a darker center and toothed petals at the ends. They bloom gradually from June to September. Cupid's dart loves drought and heat; conversely, it does not tolerate winter dampness, which harms it more than frost. If you provide it with a well-drained location, it can survive temperatures down to -18 °C. It is a rewarding plant for beginner growers and experienced florists alike. Fresh flowers last a week in a vase, but you will get the most joy from dried ones. Harvest them fully open in dry weather and hang them upside down. They will keep their shape and remind you of summer all winter long.

Geum Mai Tai, Loukykvět

Geum rivale

Avens Mai Tai is a charming spring perennial that brings a romantic touch to the garden with its adorable cup-shaped flowers. The original species often grows near streams and in moister meadows, so it will easily settle in our gardens in sun or partial shade, where well-drained, loamy, and slightly humous soil will suit it best. You will receive a rooted seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant into the flowerbed. Avens forms nice basal clumps of green leaves, which over time function as an excellent ground cover. Its growth is reliable and its care is downright undemanding, because the plant is not bothered by pests or diseases and withstands frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. It stands out best when you plant it in smaller groups about thirty centimeters apart. From May to July, richly branched stems bearing semi-double flowers with gently ruffled petals appear above the foliage. The Mai Tai cultivar, which was bred in the USA in 2005, is characterized by its amazing color variability. It blooms in peach tones with a pink tint and gradually transitions into more muted pastel, salmon, and apricot shades. Blooming avens is a huge attraction for insects, especially for butterflies. We cut the stems for a vase when roughly a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. They will stay beautiful in water for approximately seven days and add lightness and movement to an arrangement. However, its flowers are not suitable for drying. Although it is more of a short-lived perennial, it will bring you a lot of joy in the flowerbed with its rich flowers and undemanding nature.

Avens Tempest Scarlet, Loukykvět

Geum chiloense

Avens Tempest Scarlet brings a flood of vibrant colors and spring freshness to the garden. The original species of avens grow in moister but well-drained meadows and light forest edges, which is why they thrive best here in sun or partial shade in humus-rich loamy soil. You will receive an already rooted seedling in a pot from us, which you can easily transplant straight to your chosen spot. Avens are generally very undemanding plants, do not need any support, and effortlessly withstand frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. The Tempest Scarlet cultivar was bred in Scotland and stands out with the deep scarlet color of its semi-double, slightly ruffled flowers, which bloom on long branched stems from May to July. After a summer break, it will often delight you with another blooming in the autumn. With its clumping growth, it will eventually form a nice ground cover, and its flowers attract bees and butterflies. It is an excellent perennial for mixed flowerbeds as well as for cutting. We harvest the stems for bouquets as soon as about a quarter to half of the flowers are open. It will stay beautiful in a vase for about seven days, but it is not suitable for drying. Common pests and diseases avoid it, making it an ideal choice for complete beginners.

Creeping Thyme Red Carpet, Loukykvět
New
Fragrant

Thymus praecox

Early thyme 'Red Carpet' is a perfectly fragrant groundcover perennial that should not be missing in any sunny garden. Its original homeland is dry rocky hillsides and steppe meadows across Europe, making it extremely hardy and undemanding to care for. It thrives best in full sun in poorer and well-drained soil. It grows to a height of just five centimeters and creates a dense green carpet, which during June and July is covered with a flood of tiny pink to purple flowers. These are literally a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. You will receive an established seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the garden. It is perfect for rockeries, dry walls, or around stepping stones, where it releases its typical spicy scent with every touch. Even though it is not suitable for cutting into a vase due to its low growth, you can easily dry its flowering stems and use them in fragrant sachets or small floristic decorations. The 'Red Carpet' variety stands out precisely for its rich flower coloration and dense growth. In addition, it does not suffer from pests or diseases and can handle frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees without any problems, so even a complete beginner can easily handle growing it.

Cultivation

Ideální je velmi dobře propustná písčitá či kamenitá půda na dostatečně teplém slunném místě. Raší později na jaře. V tuhých a vlhkých zimách může vyhnívat. Koření velmi mělce, proto nikdy odumřelou hmotu nevytrháváme, abychom nepoškodili celou rostlinu. Můžeme pěstovat i ve větším květináči. Zásadní je pro něj vhodné stanoviště.

The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Times may vary depending on the season, climate, location, sowing and transplanting dates and possibly also the conditions in the greenhouse/greenhouse.
