Ocimum basilicum

Basil African Blue

African Blue basil is an interesting and perennial herb that will reliably surprise you with its properties. Unlike common annual species, it grows as a sturdy shrub with a woody stem. Its origin dates back to warmer regions, so it loves full sun and well-drained soil. In our conditions, we grow it as a container plant because it cannot handle winter frosts. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant into the garden or a larger container. When planting, keep a spacing of about fifty centimeters. The plant does not suffer from pests or diseases, so care is suitable even for complete beginners. From June to September, it is covered in purple flowers, which are a huge attraction for bees and bumblebees. A great advantage is its unmistakable aroma and purple-burgundy leaves. Compared to classic basils, it has a slightly spicier, camphor-like touch and is fully edible. The great news is that it doesn't lose its fragrance even after drying for floristic purposes. It will decorate summer bouquets in a vase, adding an interesting structure to them. Show full description

Fragaria vesca

Wild strawberry brings the magic of forest glades and sunny clearings to the garden, where it naturally occurs across all of Europe and northern Asia. This tiny but perennial herb is prized primarily for its incredibly aromatic fruits, which may not compete with cultivated garden strawberries in size, but easily surpass them in their intense flavor and aroma. The plant forms low cushions of deep green trifoliate leaves, and from April to June, it is decorated with tiny, pure white flowers that are an irresistible attraction for bees and other pollinators. Thanks to its undemanding nature and frost resistance down to -35 °C, it is an ideal choice even for beginner growers. In the garden, wild strawberry serves perfectly as a groundcover perennial that spreads quickly via long runners and can effectively suppress weeds. It thrives best in sun or partial shade, where it has access to humus-rich and slightly moist soil, exactly what it would find in the undergrowth of light deciduous forests. It is suitable for natural corners of the garden, under shrubs, or as edging for flowerbeds, where you can pick a sweet reward at any time. Although you won't use it much for cutting into a vase or for drying, its value lies in its living beauty and edible fruits, which ripen gradually and offer the purest taste of nature right in your home.

Geum chiloense

Avens Tempest Scarlet brings a flood of vibrant colors and spring freshness to the garden. The original species of avens grow in moister but well-drained meadows and light forest edges, which is why they thrive best here in sun or partial shade in humus-rich loamy soil. You will receive an already rooted seedling in a pot from us, which you can easily transplant straight to your chosen spot. Avens are generally very undemanding plants, do not need any support, and effortlessly withstand frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. The Tempest Scarlet cultivar was bred in Scotland and stands out with the deep scarlet color of its semi-double, slightly ruffled flowers, which bloom on long branched stems from May to July. After a summer break, it will often delight you with another blooming in the autumn. With its clumping growth, it will eventually form a nice ground cover, and its flowers attract bees and butterflies. It is an excellent perennial for mixed flowerbeds as well as for cutting. We harvest the stems for bouquets as soon as about a quarter to half of the flowers are open. It will stay beautiful in a vase for about seven days, but it is not suitable for drying. Common pests and diseases avoid it, making it an ideal choice for complete beginners.

Stipa tenuissima

Feather grass flowers attract attention in flowerbeds and bouquets with their lightness and delicacy. All feather grasses love full sun and dry, stony, well-drained soil. To look as natural as possible in flowerbeds, it is good to plant them in several pieces in loose groups together with other drought-loving perennials and bulbs. Only then will their stems and inflorescences, set in motion by the slightest breath of wind, stand out. Feather grass Ponny Tails is a species originally from the steppes of Mexico, Texas, and Patagonia. Airy dense tufts of hair-like fine leaves resemble horsehair. The leaves are green, turning up to straw-colored towards the flowers. In a suitable location, it even self-seeds.

Menta spp.

Currant mint is an absolute treasure for every lover of herbs and summer refreshment. With its fruity taste and aroma, it is suited for sweet summer drinks, ice creams, and sorbets. Common types of mint primarily originate from the more humid regions of Europe and Asia, which is why this species will also appreciate more humous, loamy soil in your garden that can retain medium moisture. It thrives best in the sun or light partial shade. From our grown seedling in a pot, which you just need to transplant right into your chosen spot in the bed, a rich clump will quickly grow, reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. From July to September, its dark green leaves with a purple tinge form a beautiful backdrop for tiny lilac inflorescences, which act as a huge attraction for bees and other pollinators. Even complete beginners will easily handle growing it; the plant is disease-free and effortlessly survives frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. During regular care, just occasionally check if the mint leaf beetle isn't feasting on it. Currant mint is also excellent for cutting. Its aromatic stems will add structure and fragrance to smaller fresh bouquets, where they will last about seven days, and they are also wonderfully useful when dried for various florist purposes or homemade tea blends.

Paeonia

Peonies are valuable in gardens for their large and impressive flowers. They are long-lived perennials for patient gardeners. It takes them several years to grow to full beauty and for you to see abundant flowering. Therefore, a blooming peony in the very first year after planting is more of an exception, certainly not the rule. Besides time, it needs the right conditions to flower. Check out our growing guide. Herbaceous garden peonies are one of the longest-bred garden plants, and most cultivars originate from Chinese and medicinal peonies, which have long been part of monastery gardens. Today, we combine them with perennials, grasses, and bulbs. However, we always give them plenty of space in the flowerbed. Shirley Temple is one of the most popular peonies. The buds have a light pink color and transition to ivory white during flowering. A sunny location and good soil conditions are important for the health of this peony. Potted peonies can be planted from spring to autumn.

Anethum graveolens

Dill is an indispensable annual whose fragrance belongs to summer. It originates from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, where it grows in sunny locations. In our gardens, it thrives best in direct sun in well-draining, humus-rich soil with moderate watering. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant directly to your chosen spot with a spacing of about forty centimeters. The plant grows to a height of fifty to one hundred centimeters. Dill appreciates slight shading of its roots, so it does excellently in mixed plantings together with vegetables and ornamental perennials. During the summer, it forms striking umbels composed of tiny yellow edible flowers. These are a strong attraction for beneficial insects and reliably attract pollinators. It is a completely undemanding plant for beginners, and it does not suffer from pests or diseases. You can use the sturdy stems for cutting into fresh summer bouquets, or you can easily dry them for floristry purposes. In suitable places, it will maintain itself through natural self-seeding.

Today, it is an indispensable part of sunny flower beds, where it thrives best in well-drained, sandy soil. It stands out for its extraordinary hardiness, easily handling harsh frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees, and does not suffer from diseases or pests. Even beginners can easily handle growing it. You will receive an already mature seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the garden, where it will form a vigorous clump of grayish-green leaves. In the garden, it functions as an ideal companion for roses as well as for natural-style plantings. Mentha piperita citrata

Chocolate mint is an indispensable herb for all lovers of unusual scents and dark colors. Originally, these moisture-loving perennials inhabited the banks of streams across the temperate zone, so in your garden, they will also appreciate loamy and humous soil. A strong bush will quickly grow from our mature seedling, which you can easily transplant from the pot directly into the bed. The cultivar captivates with deeply reddish leaves and black stems that bring an unusual look to herb plantings. The sweet menthol scent directly invites culinary use; the edible leaves will perfectly flavor lemonades and desserts. During the summer, purple flowers appear, on which butterflies and bees love to feast. It easily survives our winters, not even minding frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. It is exceptionally undemanding and does not suffer from diseases; you just need to watch out for the mint leaf beetle. Chocolate mint is excellent for floristic purposes and works as wonderfully fragrant supplementary greenery in a vase.

Avens Totally Tangerine will brighten any garden with its cup-shaped flowers in warm shades that resemble the color of ripe tangerines. The original botanical species of this cute avens originate from the mountainous regions of Chile, which is why it thrives best even in our conditions in well-drained, humus-rich, and loamy soil. It handles frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees without problems, and even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it, as it does not suffer from diseases or pests. You will get an already grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flowerbed in sun or partial shade. It is ideal to plant the plants about half a meter apart. Here it will soon form a dense clump of green leaves, from which sturdy stems up to ninety centimeters tall emerge, and they do not need any support. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it will make up for everything with its incredible persistence in blooming. Unlike other avens, the Totally Tangerine variety starts its blooming season a little later, but in return, it will delight you without a break from May to September. The semi-double flowers also gradually transition into a deep salmon to dark peach color and are a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. In a flowerbed, it functions excellently as a filler plant, nicely connecting other perennials with its neutral structure. You will also enjoy the blooming avens at home. It is excellently suited for cutting into summer bouquets. We recommend cutting the stems when a quarter to half of the flowers on the branch are already open. They will then last about a week in a vase and gently liven up any arrangement. Although it is not suitable for drying, it will do a lot of work in the flowerbed even through winter, when its foliage and remains of stems create an interesting winter effect under frost or snow.

Thymus pseudolanuginosus

A reliable and low-maintenance perennial that drapes empty spots in the garden in a fragrant, soft carpet—that is exactly woolly thyme. In the wild, it grows on sunny hillsides and dry grassy areas. At your home, it will appreciate full sun and well-drained, even gravelly soil. It handles summer droughts completely without issue, and after transplanting a grown seedling from a pot to a bed, it quickly forms a ground cover with a height of only two to seven centimeters. Its creeping stems easily take root and fill the space between stones. The plant's uniqueness lies in its foliage. The tiny leaves are densely covered with whitish hairs, giving the whole plant an attractive silvery-gray tinge. During the blooming period, the cushion turns into a flood of pink flowers, providing a valuable source of nectar for pollinators. It perfectly complements drought-tolerant plantings with lower grasses. While its creeping growth precludes its use in floristry and bouquets, it serves excellently as a living mulch protecting the soil from drying out.

Thymus vulgaris

Common thyme 'German Winter' is an aromatic perennial that no sunny herb garden can do without. It originally comes from the dry and rocky hillsides of the sunny Mediterranean, so in the garden, it will most appreciate full sun and well-drained, poorer sandy soil. It is an absolutely undemanding herb that does not suffer from pests or diseases and reliably withstands frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. It thrives wonderfully in mixed beds alongside drought-tolerant perennials, but it also works perfectly when grown in containers on balconies and terraces. The ideal spacing for planting is about twenty-five centimeters. We will deliver an already grown seedling in a pot to your home, which you simply transplant directly to the chosen location and you can enjoy it immediately. During June and July, the thyme is covered in a flood of delicate pink flowers that reliably attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies from the entire surroundings. Cultivation

Během zimy výrazně omezte zálivku a na jaře před dalším přesunem ven proveďte lehčí udržovací řez, kterým odstraníte zaschlé části a podpoříte novou jarní vitalitu.

The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Ocimum basilicum

Coldasil basil is an essential part of every herb and vegetable garden. The original wild forms of this aromatic annual come from the warm regions of India and tropical Asia, so it naturally loves full sun and well-draining soil. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into a sunny garden bed. At first glance, it looks like a classic green basil, but the Coldasil variety has an interesting advantage. Its leaves and stems should better withstand colder autumn temperatures, even handling a slight drop down to minus six degrees. Nevertheless, for now, we still confidently classify it in the annuals category. When planting, maintain a spacing of fifty centimeters, or count on four plants per square meter. Caring for it is very easy and suitable even for complete beginners. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, and standard watering is enough for it to grow to a height of thirty to forty centimeters. From June to September, it blooms with delicate pink flowers that act as a guaranteed attraction for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. The whole plant emits a typical strong fragrance and its leaves are fully edible, perfectly complementing summer salads or pasta. It will find its place alongside tomatoes as well as in mixed floral plantings. You can also try adding the pink flowering stems to smaller summer bouquets for an interesting aromatic element.

Ocimum basilicum

The 'Pesto Perpetuo' basil is an unmissable herb that shouldn't be missing in any sunny flower bed. Its original homeland is the warm and sunny regions of Asia, so here it also requires full sun and well-drained soil with regular watering. Given that it does not tolerate frost, it is grown as an annual in our climate. The 'Pesto Perpetuo' variety stands out with its upright growth and relatively large, fresh green leaves with a distinct creamy-white edge. From us, you will receive an already beautifully grown seedling in a pot, which you can simply transplant into your herb bed or a spacious container on the terrace. It is an absolutely undemanding plant suitable even for complete beginners; additionally, it does not suffer from diseases or pests. From June to September, it blooms with tiny white to slightly pinkish flowers, which act as a reliable attraction for bees and bumblebees. Like any proper basil, it is strongly aromatic and, of course, edible, so you will use it abundantly in your summer kitchen. You can also add its flowering stems to smaller summer bouquets, giving them an original structure and a subtle spicy scent.

Ocimum basilicum herbalea

Ajaka basil is a newer and very robust variety that will bring not only an amazing fragrance but also unexpected beauty to your herb garden. Classic basil comes from the warm and sunny regions of Asia, which is why even here it requires a warm, sun-drenched location and well-draining soil. It excellently handles the whims of summer weather and is highly resistant to common diseases and pests. Even beginners can playfully manage its cultivation.
