Tuto sazenici bazalky vysazujte ven až v druhé polovině května, kdy již spolehlivě nehrozí žádné jarní mrazíky. Jedná se o velmi teplomilnou letničku, která nepřežije teploty pod bodem mrazu. Bazalce vyhovuje slunné a před větrem chráněné stanoviště s výživnou, humózní a dobře propustnou půdou. Příliš mokré a těžké jílovité půdy pro ni nejsou vůbec vhodné, protože v nich trpí uhníváním kořenů. Při výsadbě na záhon dodržujte spon 25 až 30 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba 11 až 16 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup je klíčový pro zajištění dobré cirkulace vzduchu, která funguje jako nejlepší prevence proti houbovým chorobám, jako je šedá nebo fusariová hniloba.
Bazalka drobnolistá je naprosto ideální pro pěstování v nádobách a truhlících na balkonech či terasách. Při pěstování v květináči nezapomeňte na kvalitní drenážní vrstvu na dně a odtokový otvor, aby přebytečná voda mohla volně odtékat. Zálivku udržujte střední – substrát by měl být mírně vlhký, ale nikdy ne trvale přemokřený. Vodu lijte vždy přímo ke kořenům a snažte se nepokropit listy, což opět pomáhá předcházet plísním.
