Sazenice bazalky Mrs Burns jsou velmi citlivé na chlad, proto s jejich přesunem na venkovní záhon nebo terasu nespěchejte a počkejte až na druhou polovinu května. Rostlině vyberte co nejteplejší stanoviště na přímém slunci, ideálně chráněné před silným větrem. Půda by měla být bohatá na živiny, humózní a hlavně dobře propustná, aby se v ní nedržela přebytečná voda. Těžkým a studeným půdám se rozhodně vyhněte. Při výsadbě do volné půdy pamatujte na to, že tato odrůda je poměrně vzrůstná a dosahuje výšky 60 až 90 centimetrů. Vysazujte proto jednotlivé sazenice ve vzdálenosti 50 centimetrů od sebe. Tento velkorysý spon zajistí nejen dostatek prostoru pro růst, ale i tolik potřebné proudění vzduchu.
Tato výrazně aromatická bylinka je naprosto ideální volbou nejen pro klasické záhony, ale také pro pěstování v nádobách, květináčích a prostorných truhlících na balkonech. Pokud se rozhodnete pro pěstování v nádobě, dodržujte několik užitečných pravidel. Pro výběr nádoby platí, že by měla být prostorná s odtokovými otvory na dně. Přidáním drenážní vrstvy z keramzitu zajistíte, že kořeny nikdy nebudou stát ve vodě. Co se týče půdy a hnojení, použijte kvalitní, humózní a dobře propustný substrát určený pro bylinky. Zálivku provádějte pravidelně, ideálně brzy ráno nebo večer. Půdu udržujte rovnoměrně vlhkou, vrchní vrstvu však nechte před dalším zalitím lehce proschnout. Nezapomínejte ani na tvarování a sklizeň v podobě pravidelného zaštipování vrcholových výhonů, čímž rostlinu donutíte k neustálému větvení a získáte bohatší úrodu.
Od června až do konce září se můžete těšit na krásné, čistě bílé a světle růžové květy. Pokud rostlinu necháte vykvést, stane se obrovským lákadlem pro včely a další opylovače. Pokud však pěstujete bazalku primárně pro kulinářské využití, je lepší tvořící se poupata průběžně odstraňovat. Co se týče zdraví, máte vyhráno, protože tato odrůda netrpí žádnými chorobami. Ochránit ji musíte pouze před nenasytnými slimáky a plzáky, případně před mšicemi, které by mohly napadnout mladé výhony. Na podzim se s rostlinou rozloučíte, jde o klasickou letničku s nulovou mrazuvzdorností, která neodolá ani sebemenšímu mrazíku a přezimování se u ní v našich podmínkách neprovádí.
