Bazalka je teplomilná, na zahradu ji vysazujeme od poloviny května, až když bezpečně pominou jarní mrazíky. Vzhledem k tomu, že vám dorazí již vzrostlá sazenice, ušetříte si spoustu času. Bazalce vyhovuje slunné a chráněné stanoviště s výživnou, propustnou a humózní půdou. Příliš mokré a těžké jílovité půdy nejsou vůbec vhodné, protože v nich kořeny snadno uhnívají. Při výsadbě na záhon dodržujte spon kolem 50 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba čtyřem rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento prostor zajistí výbornou cirkulaci vzduchu, díky čemuž se rostlina krásně větví. Odměnou vám bude bujný růst do výšky 40 až 80 centimetrů. Tato odrůda navíc potěší tím, že netrpí na choroby ani škůdce, takže její pěstování hravě zvládnou i začátečníci. Bazalka Pesto Perpetuo s atraktivními zeleno-bílými listy je naprosto ideální pro pěstování v nádobách na balkonech či terasách. Při pěstování v květináči dodržujte tyto jednoduché zásady: Na dno umístěte dostatečnou drenážní vrstvu z keramzitu, která spolehlivě odvede přebytečnou vodu. Zvolte propustný substrát určený přímo pro pěstování bylinek. Během letní sezóny rostlinu občas podpořte organickým hnojivem pro lepší aroma. Pravidelná zálivka je klíčem k úspěchu, ale dejte si pozor na přemokření. Půdu udržujte příjemně vlhkou a zalévejte brzy ráno přímo ke kořenům. Od června do září se navíc objeví drobné čistě bílé až světle růžové květy, které fungují jako spolehlivý magnet pro užitečné opylovače. Pro zachování kompaktního tvaru je nesmírně prospěšné pravidelné zaštipování vrcholků. Tím rostlinu donutíte k neustálé tvorbě nových bočních výhonů a získáte bohatou úrodu. Sklizeň jedlých listů můžete provádět průběžně po celé léto a využít je k přípravě lahodného domácího pesta. Nezapomínejte, že bazalka je u nás pěstována výhradně jako letnička, protože její mrazuvzdornost je nulová a při teplotách pod bodem mrazu okamžitě odumírá. Ochrana na zimu venku tedy nemá smysl. Pokud si ji chcete uchovat déle, můžete ji s příchodem chladných podzimních dnů přenést do světlé a chladnější místnosti, kde dokáže ještě nějaký čas přežít. Ve venkovních podmínkách ji však ponechte pouze do prvních mrazíků.
