Bazalka je teplomilná, na zahradu jí vysazujeme od poloviny května, jakmile spolehlivě pominou veškeré jarní mrazíky. Vaší nové sazenici odrůdy Ajaka vyhovuje slunné a chráněné stanoviště s výživnou, propustnou půdou. Příliš mokré a jílovité půdy nejsou vhodné, protože v nich mohou snadno uhnívat kořeny. Sazenici zasaďte do záhonu ve sponu zhruba padesát centimetrů, což odpovídá přibližně čtyřem rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento velkorysý prostor zajistí výbornou cirkulaci vzduchu a podpoří zdravý růst po celé léto. Pokud nemáte k dispozici záhon, tato aromatická bylinka je naprosto ideální pro pěstování v nádobách nebo prostorných truhlících na slunném balkoně či terase. Při pěstování v květináči nezapomeňte na kvalitní drenážní vrstvu na dně, aby přebytečná voda mohla vždy volně odtékat a kořenový bal mohl dýchat.
Zálivku udržujte pravidelnou, ale mírnou. Tato letnička potřebuje stálou vlhkost, nicméně substrát by měl mezi dalším zaléváním mírně proschnout. V horkých letních dnech doporučujeme zalévat brzy ráno nebo na večer přímo ke kořenům, abyste zbytečně nenamáčeli zelené listy. Pro bohatý růst a tvorbu lístků je velmi vhodné bazalku během sezóny pravidelně přihnojovat tekutým hnojivem na bylinky, ideálně na čistě přírodní bázi. Odmění se vám výškou třiceti až čtyřiceti centimetrů a její pěstování hravě zvládnou i naprostí začátečníci. Obrovskou výhodou je vynikající zdravotní stav této odrůdy – rostlina je mimořádně odolná, v běžných podmínkách roste zcela bez chorob a je dokonce zcela bez škůdců.
Pravidelná a častá sklizeň lístků je tím nejlepším způsobem péče. Čím častěji budete zaštipovat vrcholky pro vaše kulinářské experimenty, tím ochotněji se bude rostlina větvit a houstnout. Od června do září se navíc můžete těšit na drobné, světle růžové květy. Ty jsou plně jedlé a na vaši zahradu spolehlivě přilákají užitečné opylovače, jako jsou včely a čmeláci. Jelikož se jedná o jednoletou rostlinu zasazenou do zóny mrazuvzdornosti blížící se nule, venku rozhodně nepřezimuje. S prvními podzimními mrazíky její vegetační období definitivně končí. Nezapomeňte proto před koncem sezóny veškerou zbývající úrodu včas sklidit a zpracovat do zásoby.
