Výběr stanoviště a výsadba sazenic
Krvavec 'Lum' je vděčná a dlouhověká trvalka, kterou obdržíte jako již zapěstovanou sazenici, připravenou k okamžité výsadbě do volné půdy. Pro úspěšný růst jí vyberte slunné nebo polostinné stanoviště, kde bude mít dostatek prostoru vyniknout. Tato rostlina přirozeně vyhledává vlhčí místa, proto se jí bude nejlépe dařit v hlinité, jílovité nebo humózní půdě, která dokáže zadržet vláhu. Vyhněte se čistě písčitým a rychle vysychajícím substrátům, kde by rostlina trpěla stresem ze sucha. Při výsadbě dodržujte doporučený spon přibližně 50 cm, což odpovídá hustotě 4 až 6 rostlin na metr čtvereční. Půdu před sázením dobře prokypřete a pokud je chudší, přimíchejte do ní vyzrálý kompost, který zajistí živiny pro start. Po výsadbě sazenici důkladně zalijte, aby se kořeny spojily s okolní zeminou.
Péče, zálivka a možná úskalí
Během vegetace je u krvavce nejdůležitější pravidelná zálivka, a to zejména v horkých letních dnech. Pokud rostlinu pěstujete na příliš suchém nebo písčitém stanovišti, může být oslabená a náchylnější na padlí, což se projeví bílým povlakem na listech. V takovém případě je nejlepším řešením celou rostlinu radikálně seříznout těsně nad zemí. Nemusíte se bát, krvavec velmi rychle a ochotně obrazí novými, svěže zelenými a zdravými listy. Jinak se jedná o velmi zdravou rostlinu, která netrpí na běžné škůdce ani choroby a nevyžaduje oporu, protože její stonky jsou pevné a vzpřímené. Hnojení není nutné přehánět, stačí jednou ročně na jaře přidat k rostlině trochu kompostu nebo použít univerzální hnojivo pro trvalky.
Přezimování a pěstování v nádobách
Tento kultivar krvavce je plně mrazuvzdorný, odolává teplotám až k -34 °C (zóna 4a), takže nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu ani zakrývání chvojím. Na jaře stačí odstranit staré odumřelé listy, aby udělaly místo novým výhonům. Zákazníci se často ptají na možnost pěstování v nádobách. Ano, krvavec 'Lum' lze díky jeho kompaktnějšímu vzrůstu (60–90 cm) pěstovat i ve velkých květináčích nebo truhlících na terase. Je však nutné zvolit dostatečně velkou nádobu s dobrou drenáží a dbát na to, aby substrát nikdy zcela nevyschl. V nádobě je rostlina závislá pouze na vaší zálivce, proto v létě kontrolujte vlhkost půdy každý den a pravidelně přihnojujte vodorozpustným hnojivem.
