Pro krvavec vyberte místo, kde bude mít rostlina dostatek prostoru vyniknout – díky svým bílým, jemně převislým květům se skvěle hodí do společnosti okrasných trav nebo jako pozadí pro nižší trvalky. Půdní podmínky jsou pro tento druh zásadní: miluje chladnější, vlhčí půdy, které jsou bohaté na živiny. Pokud máte na zahradě těžší jílovitou půdu, kde se jiným rostlinám nedaří, krvavec zde bude jako doma.
Během vegetace je nejdůležitějším úkolem udržet půdu mírně vlhkou. Ačkoliv je krvavec odolný vůči chorobám i škůdcům, dlouhodobé sucho jej může oslabit a zbytečně vystavit riziku napadení padlím. Jako prevence skvěle funguje mulčování kolem základny rostliny, které udrží vláhu u kořenů. Co se týče kvetení, krvavec vás potěší od srpna až do října. Květy jsou vynikající k řezu do váz, kde vydrží svěží déle než týden, a dodají kyticím moderní, rozevlátý vzhled. Nebojte se stonky stříhat, rostlině to neublíží.
S příchodem zimy se o rostlinu nemusíte bát. Je to dlouhověká trvalka zvyklá na drsné podmínky. Není třeba ji přikrývat chvojím ani jinak zimovat. Odumřelé nadzemní části plní přes zimu ochrannou funkci a zároveň zdobí zahradu.
