Krvavec 'Purple Tails' je ve své podstatě rostlinou vlhkých luk, proto je výběr správného stanoviště klíčem k úspěchu. Nejlépe se mu bude dařit na slunci nebo v polostínu, kde má půda schopnost udržet vláhu. Ideální je zemina hlinitá až jílovitá, bohatá na humus. Vyhněte se místům s příliš písčitou a rychle vysychající půdou, kde by rostlina trpěla stresem ze sucha. Před výsadbou půdu dobře prokypřete a zapravte do ní vyzrálý kompost. Sazenice sázejte do sponu přibližně 50 cm od sebe (cca 3 až 5 rostlin na metr čtvereční).
Během sezóny je nejdůležitější péčí zálivka. Krvavec miluje vodu, proto jej v horkých letních dnech nenechte vyschnout. Pokud by rostlina stála v příliš suché půdě, může být náchylná na padlí. V takovém případě je nejlepším řešením rostlinu radikálněji seříznout; nebojte se toho, velmi ochotně a rychle znovu obrazí svěžími zelenými listy. Hnojení není příliš náročné, stačí na jaře přidat vrstvu kompostu nebo použít organické hnojivo pro trvalky. Vzhledem k výšce 150 až 200 cm je to impozantní rostlina, která se však obvykle obejde bez opory, pokud má dostatek světla a pevnější stonek. Květy jsou vhodné k řezu do váz, kde vydrží déle než týden, a můžete je také sušit do zimních dekorací.
Co se týče zimování, Krvavec 'Purple Tails' je plně mrazuvzdorný (až do -34 °C) a v našich podmínkách nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu. Na podzim nebo brzy na jaře stačí odstranit suché nadzemní části těsně nad zemí. Pokud uvažujete o pěstování v nádobách, je to možné, ale s určitými omezeními. Vzhledem k výšce rostliny musíte zvolit velký a stabilní květináč, aby se ve větru nepřevrhl. Zásadní bude také zálivka – v nádobě substrát vysychá mnohem rychleji než ve volné půdě, a proto budete muset v létě zalévat denně.

Krvavec Tanna přináší do zahrady neopakovatelnou lehkost a eleganci divokých luk v úhledném balení. Původní druh je typickou rostlinou vlhkých a rašelinných luk, kde jeho kořeny hledají vláhu hluboko v zemi. Tato zahradní varianta byla vyšlechtěna pro menší vzrůst, takže se svými třiceti až padesáti centimetry zapadne i do kompozic, kde by vysoké trvalky stínily. Tmavě vínové paličky květů vypadají, jako by se vznášely v prostoru nad dekorativními listy, a vytvářejí tak nádherný vizuální efekt, který oceníte zejména při pohledu zblízka.
