Cultivation
Pro úspěšné pěstování krvavce 'Rock and Roll' je klíčový výběr správného stanoviště, které by mělo být slunné až polostinné. Tato trvalka, kterou od nás obdržíte jako již zapěstovanou sazenici, přirozeně prosperuje v hlinitých a jílovitých půdách, které dokáží lépe zadržet vláhu. Vyhněte se proto vysazování do čistě písčitých nebo kamenitých substrátů, kde by rostlina trpěla suchem. Pokud máte na zahradě těžší půdu, je to pro krvavec ideální prostředí. Před výsadbou doporučujeme půdu přilepšit vyzrálým kompostem, který dodá živiny do startu. Dodržujte doporučený spon přibližně 50 cm, což vychází na 4 až 6 rostlin na metr čtvereční, aby měl každý trs dostatek prostoru pro svůj pevný a vzpřímený růst do výšky až jednoho metru.
Během vegetační sezóny, zejména v horkých letních měsících července a srpna, dbejte na pravidelnou zálivku. Ačkoliv je krvavec nenáročný a netrpí na běžné choroby ani škůdce, má jednu slabinu spojenou s nedostatkem vláhy. Na příliš suchých a písčitých půdách může být náchylný na padlí. Pokud by k napadení došlo nebo rostlina vlivem sucha nevypadala pěkně, nemusíte zoufat. Jednoduše celý trs u země seřízněte. Rostlina má výbornou regenerační schopnost a brzy obrazí novými, svěže zelenými a zdravými listy. Hnojení není nutné přehánět, stačí na jaře zapravit do půdy trochu kompostu nebo použít univerzální hnojivo pro trvalky.
Krvavec 'Rock and Roll' je plně mrazuvzdorný až do -34 °C (zóna 4a), takže naši zimu zvládne bez jakékoliv speciální ochrany či zakrývání. Na podzim se listy zatáhnou a rostlina přezimuje v kořenech. Hlavní údržba vás čeká až brzy na jaře, kdy je potřeba odstranit všechny staré a suché nadzemní části těsně nad zemí, aby uvolnily místo novým výhonům. Protože jde o dlouhověkou trvalku, na jednom místě vám bude dělat radost řadu let bez nutnosti častého přesazování či dělení trsů.
Zákazníci se často ptají na možnost pěstování v nádobách. Ano, tento kultivar lze pěstovat i ve velkém květináči nebo truhlíku na terase, ale vyžaduje to trochu více pozornosti. Nádoba musí být dostatečně objemná a hluboká, aby se kořenový systém nepřehříval. Zásadní je zde zálivka – substrát v nádobě nesmí nikdy zcela vyschnout, jinak rostlina rychle zavadne a ztratí na kráse. Pro pěstování v nádobě doporučujeme smíchat zahradnický substrát s jílovitou složkou nebo gelem pro zadržování vody. Nezapomeňte také, že květy jsou vhodné k řezu a ve váze vydrží déle než týden, přičemž mladé lístky jsou jedlé a mohou zpestřit letní saláty.
