Sanguisorba minor, česky krvavec menší, je vytrvalá bylina, která do zahrady vnáší nefalšované kouzlo divokých luk a stepí. Její ozdobné listy tvoří husté trsy, které zůstávají zelené dlouho do zimy a na jaře velmi brzy obrazí. V přírodě vyhledává slunná a suchá stanoviště, často na vápencových podkladech, proto jí bude na zahradě nejlépe svědčit propustná půda na plném slunci či v mírném polostínu. Je to mimořádně odolná rostlina, která bez problémů zvládá mrazy až do -34 °C a netrpí na žádné choroby ani škůdce. Unlike it, however, it does not suffer from fungal diseases and does not taste as good to slugs. Besides the blue flowers, the large pods are interesting, decorating the plant long after flowering. North American Indians used Baptisia roots to disinfect wounds and lower fever, and leaves to dye fabrics. Patience is most important with Baptisia; it takes some time to fully establish and create a massive root system adapted for surviving long periods of drought and fires. Then it is very long-lived.

Krvavec menší (Sanguisorba minor) je trvalka, která vám odpustí téměř vše, kromě přemokření. Jelikož od nás obdržíte již předpěstovanou sazenici, můžete ji vysadit prakticky kdykoliv během vegetační sezóny, pokud není půda zamrzlá. Pro výsadbu vyberte plně osluněné stanoviště, případně mírný polostín, kde se rostlina nebude vytahovat za světlem. Klíčem k úspěchu je dokonale propustná půda. Krvavec přirozeně roste na suchých loukách a skalnatých podkladech, proto mu bude svědčit chudá, písčitá nebo kamenitá zemina. Těžké a jílovité půdy je nutné před výsadbou vylehčit štěrkem nebo pískem, aby kořeny nestály ve vodě, což by vedlo k jejich zahnívání. Při výsadbě do skupiny dodržujte spon přibližně 35 cm, což odpovídá hustotě 9 až 12 rostlin na metr čtvereční, aby se vytvořil zapojený porost, ale zároveň proudil vzduch.
Z hlediska péče se jedná o ideální rostlinu pro začátečníky nebo zaneprázdněné zahradníky. Po výsadbě sazenici pravidelně zalévejte, dokud plně nezakoření, ale následně se z ní stává mistr v toleranci sucha. Díky hlubokému kořenovému systému si dokáže obstarat vláhu i v horkých letních dnech a zálivku vyžaduje jen minimálně. Hnojení není potřeba, naopak by mohlo být na škodu – v příliš výživné půdě rostlina ztrácí svůj kompaktní tvar a poléhá. Krvavec je také mimořádně zdravý, netrpí na choroby ani na škůdce, takže nemusíte používat žádnou chemii. To je skvělá zpráva i pro milovníky bylinek, protože jeho listy s jemnou okurkovou chutí můžete bez obav sklízet do salátů či pomazánek po celou sezónu.
Pěstování v nádobách je možné a krvavec v nich vypadá velmi dekorativně, zvláště v kombinaci s okrasnými trávami. Pro pěstování v květináči či truhlíku zvolte nádobu s odtokovým otvorem a na dno dejte silnou drenážní vrstvu z keramzitu. Použijte substrát pro bylinky smíchaný s pískem v poměru 1:1. V nádobě bude rostlina vyžadovat častější kontrolu vlhkosti než ve volné půdě, substrát by měl mezi zálivkami vždy proschnout. Co se týče přezimování, krvavec je plně mrazuvzdorný až do -34 °C (zóna 4a). Na zahradě nevyžaduje žádnou zimní ochranu. Na jaře stačí odstranit staré a suché listy, aby udělaly místo pro nové, svěže zelené rašení. Pokud nechcete, aby se rostlina na zahradě sama přesévala, doporučujeme ostříhat odkvetlá květenství dříve, než dozrají semena.

Krvavec Tanna přináší do zahrady neopakovatelnou lehkost a eleganci divokých luk v úhledném balení. Původní druh je typickou rostlinou vlhkých a rašelinných luk, kde jeho kořeny hledají vláhu hluboko v zemi. Tato zahradní varianta byla vyšlechtěna pro menší vzrůst, takže se svými třiceti až padesáti centimetry zapadne i do kompozic, kde by vysoké trvalky stínily. Tmavě vínové paličky květů vypadají, jako by se vznášely v prostoru nad dekorativními listy, a vytvářejí tak nádherný vizuální efekt, který oceníte zejména při pohledu zblízka.
