Feather grass 'Allgäu' is a reliable ornamental grass that will bring lightness and constant movement to the garden. As a native species, it grows on dry, sunny slopes in Central Europe. Thanks to its origin, it is extremely resilient, loves full sun, and well-drained sandy or loamy soil. It tolerates drought excellently, and even a beginner can easily manage its cultivation. You can simply transplant our grown seedling into your flower bed, and soon you will delight in dense clumps of green leaves. These grow 60 to 80 centimeters tall and require a space of 70 centimeters around them. From June to September, it forms creamy and silver inflorescences changing into beige tones. Feather grass beautifully complements drought-loving perennials and readily self-seeds in a suitable location. The long stalks are excellent for cutting into vases and drying for decorations. It avoids diseases and pests and withstands frosts down to -28 °C. Do not cut it before winter, as the frosted stalks create a wonderful winter effect.

It originally comes from the sunny and dry regions of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor, so it thrives best in direct sun here as well. It favors well-drained, sandy, and even nutrient-poor soil, where it easily copes with a lack of moisture. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flower bed, where it will very soon form a neat, richly branched bush reaching a height of around fifty centimeters. It is an absolutely undemanding plant that is not bothered by diseases or pests, so its cultivation can be easily handled even by complete beginners. It comfortably withstands severe frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees Celsius.
In the garden, hyssop finds wide application. It fits perfectly into steppe-character gravel beds and beautifully complements roses or lower ornamental grasses. During the summer until early autumn, the Roseus variety will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in a delicate light pink shade. These flowers, as well as the narrow green leaves, emit a pleasant spicy fragrance and reliably act as a huge lure for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Since all parts of the plant are edible, you can also use hyssop in the kitchen as a herb to flavor dishes or prepare a medicinal tea from it.

Cultivation
Pěstování kavylu třtinového zvládne i úplný začátečník, jelikož se jedná o velmi nenáročnou okrasnou trávu. Naši vzrostlou sazenici můžete ihned po vybalení vysadit na trvalé stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit na plném slunci, kde plně vynikne její krása. Půda by měla být především propustná, ideálně písčitá nebo hlinitá. Těžkým a trvale zamokřeným půdám se raději vyhněte, tam by mohly kořeny uhnívat. Kavyl je ze své domoviny zvyklý na suché svahy, proto nevyžaduje častou zálivku. Zpočátku po výsadbě sazenici občas zalijte, aby dobře zakořenila, ale jakmile se uchytí, bez problémů zvládne i delší období sucha. Dodatečné hnojení není nutné, rostlina si vystačí s běžnými živinami v půdě.\n\nPři výsadbě do záhonu doporučujeme dodržet spon 40 až 50 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba čtyřem až šesti rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento prostor je důležitý pro to, aby se trsy mohly volně rozrůstat do šířky a stébla měla dostatek místa pro pohyb ve větru. Kavyl dorůstá výšky 60 až 80 centimetrů a na vhodném místě se ochotně přesévá, takže se časem krásně zapojí do kompozice se suchomilnými trvalkami. Pokud nemáte zahradu, můžete tuto trávu úspěšně pěstovat i v nádobách na balkoně či terase:\n- Vyberte dostatečně velký květináč s odtokovým otvorem.\n- Na dno dejte silnější drenážní vrstvu (např. keramzit).\n- Použijte lehký propustný substrát smíchaný s pískem.\n- V nádobě rostlinu zalévejte o něco pravidelněji, ale vždy nechte substrát proschnout.\n\nBěhem léta se můžete těšit na bohatá květenství v béžových, stříbrných a krémových tónech, která jsou perfektní pro řez do váz i k sušení do interiérových dekorací. Velkou výhodou tohoto druhu je naprostá odolnost vůči škůdcům i chorobám, takže se nemusíte trápit žádnými postřiky. S blížícím se podzimem trsy v žádném případě nestříhejte. Dlouhá stébla nechte přes zimu na záhoně, protože ojíněná mrazem vytvářejí na zahradě nádherný zimní efekt. Navíc staré listy přirozeně chrání střed rostliny před vymrznutím a zimní vlhkostí.
