Solidago canadensis

Garden cultivars of goldenrod are attractive and undemanding perennials bred from native North American wild species. Unlike their wild counterparts, they are not invasive and do not spread uncontrollably in garden beds. They are specially bred for cutting, which is why they are relatively tall, grow upright, and bloom profusely. We can harvest both freshly bloomed plants and stems with buds for bouquets. They last 10 days in a vase. In garden beds, they are an indispensable feast for bees. The pastel yellow flowers of Romantic Glory combine well with other colors.

Ballota pseudodictamnus

A xerophilous herb originating from the Mediterranean. It is cultivated for its grayish-white felted stems and leaves. The nettle-like flowers are also interesting, being a great attraction for bees. The plant remains interesting even after flowering, precisely because of its unusual silvery coloration and cup-shaped flower calyxes. These, incidentally, resemble another floristic delicacy – Irish bells. Unlike them, however, it is perennial and in the right location tolerates our frosts. It comes from Turkey, Libya, Greece, and Crete, and therefore we plant it here, for example, in gravel beds. We can also successfully grow it in pots. Unusual greenery for bouquets. Lasts 10 days in a vase.

Penstemon digitalis

Penstemon digitalis 'Mystica' is a relatively robust and long-lived perennial with attractive bronze-purple leaves and white-purple flowers. We recommend cutting back Penstemon after flowering to encourage re-blooming. It lasts 5 to 7 days in a vase.

Eryngium planum

A perennial that finds its use in naturalistic steppe and gravel beds. It attracts bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It's floristically valuable for its flowers with striking bracts, which are also perfect for drying. The roots of some species were once candied as sweets in England and France and added to pastries and jellies. In herbal medicine, it was used, among other things, as an aphrodisiac, hence its folk name 'male fidelity'.
