Sweet pea Pearl Mixture, Loukykvět
Sweet pea Pearl Mixture, Loukykvět

Lathyrus latifolius

Sweet pea Pearl Mixture

The sweet pea Pearl Mixture quickly brings a colorful flood into the garden and covers empty spaces by pergolas or wire fences. In the wild, the original species grows on the sunny edges of deciduous forests and in light scrublands. Once it gets used to a sunny or semi-shady spot with ordinary, well-drained loamy soil at your place, it will become a very long-lived and self-sufficient plant. We will deliver a well-rooted seedling to you, which you just transplant to the final location and provide it with a support for climbing. During the summer, it can stretch up to two meters in height. Dozens of white, pink, and red flowers appear on the stems, constantly attracting hardworking pollinators. Even though this species lacks aroma, it richly compensates for this with its enormous resistance to frosts and diseases. It is an ideal plant for beginners. The sturdy flower stems are perfect for creating summer bouquets. Keep in mind, however, that this sweet pea is a poisonous perennial. Show full description

Sweet Rocket Violet, Loukykvět

Hesperis matronalis

Hesperis matronalis, commonly known as sweet rocket, is popular for its rich inflorescences in purple and lilac shades, which appear from May to July. This robust plant grows up to one meter tall and functions in gardens as a short-lived perennial or biennial. Its flowers are a magnet for pollinators, especially nocturnal ones, which are attracted by its specific fragrance that intensifies after dark. It looks very natural in flowerbeds and perfectly complements perennial compositions, where it often self-seeds in suitable spots. If you love creating floral arrangements, sweet rocket will not disappoint you. We cut the stems the moment the first blooms open, and they will bring us joy in a vase for up to a week. A specific feature of this plant is that even after cutting, the stems can still grow slightly in water, which adds an interesting dynamic to bouquets.

Sweet pea Pink Pearl, Loukykvět

Lathyrus latifolius

The Pink Pearl cultivar brings a flood of delicately pink flowers on long climbing stems to the garden. This perennial sweet pea comes from sunny and semi-shady habitats in European nature, making it fully frost-hardy and easily adaptable to ordinary loamy and well-drained soil. It is an exceptionally vital perennial that easily climbs to a height of over two meters in maturity. For its growth, it absolutely needs support in the form of a trellis, pergola, or fence. Even beginners can handle its care. From us, you will receive a grown seedling in a pot, which you simply transplant directly to a permanent place with a sufficient space of about a meter for healthy growth. Unlike the spring sweet pea, the flowers of this perennial lack fragrance, but they create an all the more reliable spectacle from June until August. The pink inflorescence intensely attracts pollinators. The sweet pea is a great choice for florists; the sturdy stems are excellent for cutting and last a very long time in a vase. Keep in mind that the plant is poisonous. It does not need any complicated care, as pests and diseases avoid it.

Oriental Poppy Royal Wedding, Loukykvět

Papaver orientale

Oriental poppy Royal Wedding is an unmissable perennial that brings true elegance to the spring garden. It originally comes from the harsher conditions of the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on sunny rocky slopes and dry meadows. Because of this, it is exceptionally resilient, easily handling frosts down to minus forty degrees, and can do without complex care. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to a sunny location with well-drained loamy soil. The cultivar Royal Wedding will reward you in May and June with huge bowl-shaped flowers with pure white petals, which hide a distinct dark burgundy spot in their center. Moreover, these enchanting flowers reliably attract pollinators from far and wide. It is typical for Oriental poppies that their strikingly fuzzy green leaves die back soon after flowering. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Therefore, it is ideal to plant the poppy in the flower bed in close proximity to other perennials that sprout slightly later and naturally fill the empty space left by the resting poppy. It avoids diseases and needs no support, reaching a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. Just watch out for field voles, which might develop a taste for its fleshy roots. Otherwise, it is a long-lived plant that even a complete beginner can handle without worries. Given that the plant is poisonous, it is naturally not intended for consumption. The giant white flowers are also a great attraction for lovers of cut flowers, although they require a little trick. Similar to other poppies, the stems need to be harvested exactly at the moment when the buds begin to color and slightly crack. Right after cutting, we sear the ends of the stems with a flame for about twenty seconds to prevent sap leakage, and then we put them into cold water. Thanks to this procedure, they will stay beautiful for about four days in a vase and add amazing lightness to bouquets. Although these delicate flowers are not suitable for drying, they simply have no competition in fresh spring bouquets.

Lady's mantle Irish Silk, Loukykvět

Alchemilla mollis

Alchemilla mollis, known as lady's mantle, is an indispensable perennial for anyone who wants to bring harmony and softness to the garden. Its home is the moister environments of mountain meadows and light forests, making it a very adaptable plant that will survive even severe frosts without problems in our climate. The 'Irish Silk' cultivar is prized for its vitality and abundant blooming, where clouds of tiny, yellow-green flowers float above clumps of gray-green leaves. It is precisely this neutral color that can work wonders in a flower bed – it softens overly sharp contrasts between other flowers and beautifully unifies the entire composition. Besides its ornamental function, lady's mantle also has practical uses. Thanks to its clumping growth and ability to quickly fill in, it is ideal for edging pathways or as an underplanting beneath taller shrubs and roses. Water droplets catch on its leaves, creating a magical spectacle in the garden. If you enjoy making bouquets, you will love lady's mantle as versatile filler greenery that matches almost anything. Larkspur Benary’s Pacific Black Knight, Loukykvět

Delphinium hybrida

The majestic larkspur Benary’s Pacific Black Knight will bring original beauty and a striking vertical structure to your garden. In the wild, the original species of larkspurs grow in lush meadows with nutritious soil. Therefore, in the garden, it will reliably appreciate full sun and sufficiently moist, humous loam. Although it is a perennial for somewhat more advanced growers, with the right approach, it will reward you richly and will survive even extreme winters with temperatures deep below the freezing point without worry. We will deliver a beautifully rooted seedling in a pot, ready for immediate planting in the flowerbed. Do not forget to give it enough space, ideally with spacings around sixty centimeters, and throughout the season, do not forget regular fertilizing. A more airy space will naturally protect the plant from powdery mildew. It works excellently in mixed borders with peonies and roses, providing them with a beautiful dark background. The Black Knight variety stands out with long stems growing up to one hundred and fifty centimeters, which are gradually adorned with deep dark purple flowers from June onwards. These literally attract bees from a wide surrounding area. When growing, keep in mind that it is poisonous and very tasty to slugs in early spring. The firm flower stalks are absolutely ideal for fresh bouquets, where they will stay fresh for about seven days. However, do not place the vase next to ripening fruit, to whose ethylene larkspur is sensitive and would wilt faster. If you want to preserve its beauty longer, try drying it. The dark flowers retain their pigment excellently and will enliven absolutely any dried arrangement.

Hollyhock Spotlight Radiant Rose, Loukykvět

Alcea rosea hybr.

Hollyhocks are a necessity for every lover of rural atmosphere. We traditionally associate them with sunny cottage gardens, even though they came to Europe with ancient travelers along the Silk Road all the way from the steppes of Central Asia. And the taste for travel has remained with the hollyhock. It often self-seeds and you will find it in a place where you certainly didn't plant it. Naturally, it is a biennial or short-lived perennial. However, its instability is balanced by beautiful double flowers and a distinct silhouette and height. It is suitable for cutting and was also used for dyeing and as a medicinal plant. The Spotlight series includes cultivars with single flowers. Their great advantage, in addition to naturally better resistance of flowers to rain, is overall greater hardiness and persistence. They are more perennial than double-flowered forms, which retain the properties of biennials.

You will receive a mature seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted directly into the flowerbed, ideally at a spacing of sixty centimeters, so that it has enough clear space around it for growth. It belongs among plants for intermediate growers, because for its majestic growth to a height of one hundred to one hundred and fifty centimeters, it needs regular fertilizing and copious watering. It is also good to watch out for snails and slugs, which like to feast on its young leaves, and throughout the season to protect the plant from powdery mildew. Larkspur is fully frost-resistant and can handle temperatures dropping to minus thirty-four degrees without difficulty. The entire plant is poisonous, which is good to keep in mind when choosing its spot. You will often see it in the company of roses and peonies, where its pure white flowers form a perfect color contrast. Cultivation

Lathyrus latifolius

The perennial sweet pea White Pearl will bring a flood of pure white flowers to the garden and liven up any empty support. It originally comes from the light woodland edges of Southern and Central Europe, where it climbs over the surrounding vegetation. Therefore, a sunny spot or partial shade and ordinary, well-drained loamy soil suit it well. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant directly into the flowerbed. It is an exceptionally resilient perennial that can handle frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. For successful growth, it needs support to climb to a height of over two meters. Throughout the entire summer, it forms clusters of flowers similar to the annual sweet pea. Although they lack its fragrance, they reliably attract bees and butterflies. The White Pearl cultivar captivates with its pure white color, making it look very elegant. It does not suffer from pests and even beginners can handle growing it. It quickly greens up fences and trellises and its flowers perfectly complement summer bouquets, in which they stay fresh for a long time. Just remember that, like other sweet peas, it is poisonous.

Throughout the entire summer, it forms conspicuous pinkish-red flowers, which, unlike their annual relatives, do not smell, but make up for it with their endurance and ability to attract bees from the entire surroundings. The Red Pearl variety stands out precisely for its intense flower color and excellent health, thanks to which it does not suffer from pests or common diseases. Moreover, it is fully frost-hardy and will survive the winter without any problems. The long flowering shoots are perfect for a vase, where they give a very natural rustic impression.

It will last beautiful for about ten days in a vase, and its inflorescences can also be easily dried without losing too much of their color or shape. Moreover, it is a magnet for pollinators, and its young leaves are even edible, so it also finds use in a natural kitchen.

Sea Holly, Loukykvět
For drying

Eryngium planum

Sea holly is an indispensable perennial for all lovers of naturally styled gardens. It earned its folk name - male fidelity - in times when it was used in herbal medicine as an aphrodisiac, and its roots were even candied as sweets in France and England. Today, however, you will appreciate it mainly for its low maintenance and unique appearance. Its home is on sunny hillsides and dry meadows, so even in our gardens, it will welcome well-drained, even poorer sandy soil and full sun. It produces upright, sturdy stems topped with blue-purple flowers with prickly bracts, which bring interesting structure and a silvery touch to the flowerbeds. It is literally a magnetic plant for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies, who find a rich food source on it. Floristically, it is extremely valuable, because its flowers are perfectly suited for cutting as well as drying for winter decorations. If you decide not to harvest it, feel free to leave it in the flowerbed all winter. Its silhouette covered in hoarfrost creates a wonderful winter effect.
