Calamint Marvelette White is a modest and undemanding perennial that reliably scents every sunny garden. Its original homeland is the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, so in our climate it thrives best in direct sun in well-drained, poorer sandy or loamy soil. It handles the winter without problems and tolerates frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant directly into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy little bush reaching a height of around forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle its care. It blooms for a record-long time from July to September with a large amount of tiny, pure white little flowers that are so typical of the Marvelette White variety. The whole plant emits a pleasant minty-spicy scent and its thyme-like flowers act as a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in natural-style steppe beds with shorter grasses. The white shade of the flowers brings softness and lightness to plantings. The white flowers and green leaves are also edible, so you can use them to garnish summer meals. Calamint is also excellent for cutting into smaller fresh bouquets, adding a fine structure to them in a vase and staying fresh for many days. Avens forms nice basal clumps of green leaves, which over time function as an excellent ground cover. Its growth is reliable and its care is downright undemanding, because the plant is not bothered by pests or diseases and withstands frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees. It stands out best when you plant it in smaller groups about thirty centimeters apart. From May to July, richly branched stems bearing semi-double flowers with gently ruffled petals appear above the foliage. The Mai Tai cultivar, which was bred in the USA in 2005, is characterized by its amazing color variability. It blooms in peach tones with a pink tint and gradually transitions into more muted pastel, salmon, and apricot shades. Blooming avens is a huge attraction for insects, especially for butterflies. We cut the stems for a vase when roughly a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. They will stay beautiful in water for approximately seven days and add lightness and movement to an arrangement. However, its flowers are not suitable for drying. Although it is more of a short-lived perennial, it will bring you a lot of joy in the flowerbed with its rich flowers and undemanding nature.

Cultivation
Marulka lékařská je naprosto ideální trvalkou pro začínající zahradníky, protože je mimořádně skromná a odpustí vám i případné pěstitelské chyby. Dodanou sazenici doporučujeme vysazovat na horké a slunné stanoviště, které jí zajistí ty absolutně nejlepší podmínky pro bohaté a dlouhé kvetení. Má ráda dobře propustnou, suchou a na živiny nepříliš bohatou půdu. Těžkým a trvale mokrým půdám se raději vyhněte. Při plánování výsadby počítejte se sponem zhruba 35 centimetrů, což odpovídá osmi až deseti rostlinám na jeden metr čtvereční. Tento rozestup zajistí bezproblémovou cirkulaci vzduchu. Na jaře raší spíše později, takže prázdná místa brzy zjara nejsou důvodem k obavám.
Během sezóny vás tato dlouhověká trvalka překvapí svou soběstačností. Po zakořenění je perfektně přizpůsobená suchu, takže zálivku vyžaduje pouze během extrémních letních vln veder. Dodatečné hnojení můžete zcela vynechat, chudší půdní podmínky jí vyhovují ze všeho nejvíce. Marulka vykvétá mraky bílých a světle fialových květů nepřetržitě od června do října. Odkvetlé květy není nutné odstraňovat, protože jsou sterilní, netvoří semena a neustále se obnovují samy. Celá rostlina navíc funguje jako silný magnet na včely i motýly a díky své kořenité vůni se dá využít i jako jedlá bylinka v kuchyni.
S blížící se zimou si s marulkou vůbec nemusíte dělat starosti. Je plně mrazuvzdorná až do úctyhodných -28 °C a bez problému zvládne i velmi tuhé zimy v našich podmínkách. Zásadním pravidlem pro úspěšné přezimování je nestříhat rostlinu na podzim. Očistný a hluboký řez proveďte až v předjaří, než se objeví první nové výhony. Jelikož dorůstá do výšky pouze 30 až 60 centimetrů a drží si kompaktní tvar, není potřeba instalovat žádnou oporu proti polehávání.

S blížící se zimou si s marulkou vůbec nemusíte dělat starosti. Je plně mrazuvzdorná až do úctyhodných -28 °C a bez problému zvládne i velmi tuhé zimy v našich podmínkách. Zásadním pravidlem pro úspěšné přezimování je nestříhat rostlinu na podzim. Očistný a hluboký řez proveďte až v předjaří, než se objeví první nové výhony. Jelikož dorůstá do výšky pouze 30 až 60 centimetrů a drží si kompaktní tvar, není potřeba instalovat žádnou oporu proti polehávání.
