Cultivation
Klíčem k úspěchu je výběr správného místa. Tato trvalka je původem z teplých a suchých strání jižní Evropy, proto pro ni vyberte to nejslunnější místo, které na zahradě máte. Miluje přímé slunce a teplo. Pokud jde o půdu, je poměrně nenáročná, ale má jednu zásadní podmínku: zemina musí být perfektně propustná. Ideální je půda písčitá, štěrkovitá nebo kamenitá. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou jílovitou půdu, je nezbytné ji před výsadbou vylehčit přidáním písku nebo drobného štěrku, jinak by kořeny mohly uhnívat, zejména v zimním období.
Sazenice vysazujte v rozestupech přibližně 30 cm, což vychází zhruba na 11 rostlin na metr čtvereční. Tento spon zajistí, že se rostliny krásně propojí, ale zároveň budou mít dostatek prostoru pro proudění vzduchu. Po výsadbě rostlinu zalijte, aby dobře zakořenila, ale jakmile se uchytí, je lnice překvapivě odolná vůči suchu. Zálivku vyžaduje pouze v období déletrvajících veder, jinak si vystačí s běžnými srážkami. Přílišná vláha a hnojení jí spíše škodí – rostlina by se pak zbytečně vytahovala a mohla by poléhat, ačkoliv za normálních okolností své až 80 cm vysoké stonky hrdě drží bez jakékoliv opory. Hnojení tedy není nutné, lnice nejlépe prosperuje v chudších půdách, kde se naplno projeví její přirozená odolnost a kompaktnější růst.
Péče během sezóny je minimální a zvládne ji i úplný začátečník. Velkou výhodou této odrůdy je její fantastický zdravotní stav – netrpí na žádné choroby ani škůdce, takže nemusíte používat žádnou chemii. Květy se objevují od června až do října. Pokud chcete podpořit tvorbu nových poupat a prodloužit kvetení, můžete odkvetlé klasy průběžně odstraňovat. Nicméně, lnice je krátkověká trvalka, což znamená, že mateřská rostlina po několika letech přirozeně odchází. Aby se na vašem záhonu udržela trvale, doporučujeme na konci léta nechat alespoň část květenství dozrát a vysemenit. Rostlina se ochotně a spolehlivě přesévá sama, čímž si zajistíte nové generace sazenic pro další roky.
Lnice je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -23 °C (zóna 6a), takže naše zimy zvládá obvykle bez problémů. Největším nepřítelem není mráz samotný, ale zimní vlhko. Pokud jste zajistili dobrou drenáž při výsadbě, přezimuje spolehlivě. Na jaře stačí odstranit suché nadzemní části z loňského roku, čímž uvolníte místo novým výhonům. Tuto rostlinu můžete s úspěchem pěstovat i v nádobách či truhlících na slunném balkonu či terase. V takovém případě dbejte na to, aby měl květináč odtokový otvor a na dně drenážní vrstvu z kamínků nebo keramzitu. V nádobě bude zálivka nutná častěji než ve volné půdě, protože substrát rychleji vysychá, ale stále platí pravidlo: raději sušší než přemokřené.

Calamint
An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking length of time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is generally more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable. Sometimes sold under the cultivar name 'Triumphator'.
