Late summer and early autumn in the garden unequivocally belong to Japanese anemones, which can fill the spaces left by fading annuals with their flowers. Honorine Jobert is a historic and highly valued variety, boasting large, bright white petals contrasting with deep yellow stamens in the center. The plant forms dense clumps of dark green leaves from which upright stems, up to a meter tall, emerge and gently sway in the wind. Thanks to its height and timeless elegance, this anemone is suitable for both country and modern gardens, where it thrives best in partial shade. It is a rewarding perennial for beginners, does not suffer from diseases, and overwinters reliably even in our conditions. If you want to bring a bit of autumn mood home, don't hesitate to cut the stems into a bouquet; they will stay fresh in water for several days and delight you with their simple beauty.

Výběr správného stanoviště je pro úspěch s japonskými sasankami klíčový, protože na jednom místě vydrží mnoho let a přesazování nemají příliš v lásce. Pro sasanku 'Honorine Jobert' je ideálním stanovištěm polostín, kde bude chráněná před nejostřejším poledním sluncem, které by mohlo popálit její jemné okvětní lístky. Pokud máte na zahradě pouze slunné místo, je pěstování možné jen za předpokladu, že zajistíte rostlině dostatečně vlhkou půdu, která nikdy zcela nevyschne. Půda by měla být humózní, propustná a ideálně hlinitá, bohatá na živiny. Před výsadbou doporučujeme do země zapracovat vyzrálý kompost nebo listovku, což zlepší strukturu půdy a pomůže zadržovat potřebnou vláhu. Jelikož se jedná o vzrostlejší trvalku dosahující výšky kolem metru, sázejte rostliny v rozestupu 40–50 cm (přibližně 3–5 kusů na m²), aby měly dostatek prostoru pro rozrůstání a dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu, což preventivně působí proti plísním, ačkoli tato odrůda je obecně velmi zdravá.
Po výsadbě sazenice je zásadní pravidelná zálivka, dokud rostlina plně nezakoření. Sasanky mají rády mírně vlhkou půdu (vláha 💧💧), ale nesnášejí přemokření, které by mohlo vést k uhnívání kořenů, zejména v zimním období. V horkých letních dnech je zálivka nutností, zvláště na slunnějším stanovišti. Jelikož je rostlina plně mrazuvzdorná (až do -23 °C), v našich podmínkách zimu zvládá dobře. Přesto se doporučuje u mladých rostlin v prvním roce po výsadbě přikrýt trs chvojím nebo vrstvou listí, abyste měli jistotu, že bez úhony přečkají i extrémnější výkyvy teplot.
Údržba během roku není náročná, což ocení i úplní začátečníci. Důležité je vědět, že japonské sasanky se seřezávají až na jaře, nikoliv na podzim. Staré listy a stonky totiž slouží jako přirozená zimní ochrana srdíčka rostliny. Na jaře pak odstraňte všechny suché nadzemní části těsně nad zemí, čímž podpoříte růst nových, zdravých listů. Ačkoliv je 'Honorine Jobert' odolná vůči chorobám, dejte si pozor na slimáky a plzáky, kteří si rádi pochutnávají na mladých jarních lístcích. Pravidelná kontrola a ochrana proti těmto škůdcům zajistí, že se rostlina rozroste do krásného trsu.
Pokud nemáte zahradu, můžete tuto elegantní trvalku pěstovat i ve větším květináči nebo nádobě na terase. Vzhledem k výšce rostliny (90–110 cm) a jejímu kořenovému systému zvolte dostatečně velkou a stabilní nádobu s odtokovými otvory. Na dno dejte drenážní vrstvu z kamínků nebo keramzitu a použijte kvalitní substrát pro trvalky smíchaný s kompostem. Pamatujte, že rostliny v nádobách jsou náchylnější na vysychání i promrzání. Substrát udržujte stále mírně vlhký a na zimu květináč buď zapusťte do země, nebo jej důkladně obalte izolací (polystyren, juta) a postavte na chráněné místo u zdi domu. V nádobách je také nutné častější doplňování živin během vegetace.

You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of up to forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety. The whole plant emits a pleasant minty-spicy scent, and its flowers, which resemble thyme, act as a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look great among roses or in naturally designed steppe flowerbeds, where it naturally complements lower ornamental grasses. Additionally, both the blue flowers and green leaves are edible, so you can use them to garnish summer dishes. Lesser calamint is also excellently suited for cutting into smaller fresh bouquets, adding a fine structure to them in a vase.

Calamint
An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking length of time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is generally more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable. Sometimes sold under the cultivar name 'Triumphator'.

The Czech Perennial Association chose autumn Anemones as the perennial of the season for 2022. They last 7 days in a vase. Whirlwind is a historical variety bred in 1887 in the USA. It has a semi-double pure white flower, often with inner twisted petals, and compact, strictly upright growth. The flowers are very durable.
