Pěstování této dlouhověké trvalky je ideální volbou pro začátečníky, protože nevyžaduje téměř žádnou speciální péči. Jakmile vám dorazí silná sazenice, vyberte pro ni místo v polostínu nebo úplném stínu. Astra rozkladitá se výborně hodí jako podrost pod vyšší stromy, kde si bez problémů poradí s kořenovou konkurencí. Půda by měla být ideálně propustná a hlinitá. Sazenice vysazujte na vzdálenost 40 až 50 centimetrů od sebe, což odpovídá zhruba 4 až 6 rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Tento dostatečný spon zajistí rostlinám prostor pro dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu, čímž podpoříte celkové zdraví trsu, který brzy poslouží jako výborný půdní pokryv.
Po výsadbě je důležité sazenici pravidelně zalévat, dokud plně nezakoření. Jakmile se ale na novém stanovišti uchytí, stává se velmi odolnou vůči sušším podmínkám a vystačí si s běžnými srážkami. Přihnojování není nutné, bohatě stačí na jaře přidat k rostlině trochu dobře vyzrálého kompostu. Pokud nemáte zahradu, můžete tuto astru pěstovat i v nádobě nebo prostorném truhlíku na stinném balkoně. V takovém případě nezapomeňte na kvalitní drenážní vrstvu na dně květináče a pamatujte, že rostliny v nádobách vyžadují častější zálivku než ty volně zasazené v záhonu.
Během sezóny se nemusíte obávat žádných škůdců ani houbových chorob, tato odrůda je vůči nim naprosto imunní. V srpnu a září vás potěší záplavou čistě bílých květů, které nevyžadují žádnou oporu a spolehlivě přitahují včely i motýly. Květy můžete také s úspěchem ostříhat do vázy. S příchodem zimy není třeba chystat žádnou speciální ochranu. Rostlina je extrémně mrazuvzdorná až do -34 °C. Nadzemní část na zimu odumírá, ale pevné stonky si drží svou strukturu a vytvářejí krásný zimní efekt. Zpětný řez, tedy odstranění všech suchých výhonů těsně nad zemí, proveďte až na začátku jara. Tím podpoříte zdravý a vitální růst v nové sezóně.
