The Tradescant cultivar is characterized by dark stems and the undersides of the leaves, which forms a beautiful contrast with the fresh green upper side. Baptisia comes from North America, belongs to the legume family, and resembles lupine in appearance. Unlike lupine, however, it does not suffer from fungal diseases and does not taste as good to slugs. Besides the blue flowers, the large pods that adorn the plant long after flowering are interesting. North American Indians used Baptisia roots to disinfect wounds and lower fever, and leaves to dye fabrics. With Baptisia, patience is most important; it takes some time to fully establish and create a massive root system adapted to survive long periods of drought and fire. Then it is very long-lived. Bleeding Heart
The original home of bleeding hearts is Korea and China, where they grow in light deciduous forests. They are classic garden perennials. They will look perfect in nostalgically styled flower beds; the white variant fits well even into naturalistic woodland gardens. They are popular for their heart-shaped flowers hanging on horizontal or arching stems. These weaken and die back some time after flowering; all the plant's energy then concentrates in the roots, and at that moment, we can cut the above-ground part back completely. For the rest of the year, we won't even know the bleeding heart is in the garden. It will remind us of its charm again in the spring. Perfect vase life, at least 7 days. Harvest when the first 3–4 flowers open on the stem. The basic species has pink-white flowers. In spring, the sprouting shoots have a pink tinge.

Cultivation
Této nenáročné trvalce se bude nejlépe dařit v polostínu nebo ve stínu, a to i na problematických místech, jako je podrost pod korunami vzrostlých stromů. Zde si totiž bez potíží poradí s konkurencí jejich kořenů a po ujmutí zvládne i sušší podmínky. Půda by měla být především propustná, ideálně hlinitá nebo písčitá. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon 40 až 45 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba pěti až sedmi rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Poskytnete jim tak dostatek prostoru pro vytvoření hustého trsu a zároveň zajistíte dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu.
Po výsadbě je důležité sazenici pravidelně zalévat, než pořádně zakoření. Jakmile se ale na novém místě dobře uchytí, stává se z ní rostlina velmi nenáročná na zálivku. Přihnojování není pro tento druh nijak nezbytné, na jaře můžete k rostlinám přidat trochu uleželého kompostu pro podporu růstu. Astra dorůstá do výšky 30 až 50 centimetrů, má pevné tmavé stonky a přirozeně vzdušný habitus, takže se obejde zcela bez opory. Velkou výhodou je, že vůbec netrpí na běžné choroby a vyhýbají se jí i škůdci, pěstování tak s přehledem zvládnou i naprostí začátečníci.
Během srpna a září vás rostlina potěší čistě bílými květy, které spolehlivě lákají včely a další opylovače. Po odkvětu stonky na podzim rozhodně nestříhejte. Květenství i tmavé stonky si totiž udržují zajímavou strukturu přes celou zimu a přinášejí tak na záhon krásný zimní efekt, obzvlášť když je pokryje jinovatka. Zpětný řez celé rostliny těsně nad zemí proveďte až v předjaří, podpoříte tím její vitalitu a tvorbu nových svěžích listů. Astra je extrémně mrazuvzdorná až do -34 °C, takže nepotřebuje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu.
Zákazníci se často ptají na možnost pěstovat tuto trvalku na zastíněných balkonech v květináči. Astra je pro pěstování v nádobách velmi vhodná! Vyberte dostatečně velkou nádobu s odtokovým otvorem na dně a použijte kvalitní propustný substrát smíchaný s trochou písku. Při pěstování v truhlíku pamatujte na to, že substrát vysychá rychleji než půda na záhoně, proto bude rostlina potřebovat častější zálivku. Přesto dejte pozor na trvalé přemokření, které by mohlo vést k uhnívání kořenů.

Lesser calamint Blue Cloud is an undemanding and modest perennial that reliably perfumes any sunny garden. Its original homeland is the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, which is why it thrives best here in direct sun in well-drained, sandy, or poorer loamy soil. It handles winter without problems, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of up to forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is generally more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable.
