Nasturtium Milk Maid

It is not a classic cut flower, we know. But it fits great in beds, has beautiful colors, and is edible, so we forgive it. Nasturtium flowers have stems 15-20 cm long. So they are suitable for arranging in containers, tying small posies, or as decoration on cakes. Our Nasturtiums are not climbing, but bush types. Salmon Mousse, as the name suggests, are shades of light and deep salmon.

The "flowers" and leaves are slightly prickly; it does look like a miniature thistle after all. The stems and tops are silvery blue. And mature, bloomed Sea Holly doesn't wilt, making it great for drying, wreaths, and similar uses. For drying, harvest when the thistles are colored blue and the stem below the thistle is firm. Just hang them upside down in a dry, ventilated place, out of sunlight.

Coreopsis looks beautiful in a garden bed or in a box on the balcony. If you plan to grow it as a cut flower, you have to be a bit careful and harvest on time; it can fade quickly. The stems are very thin and have tiny delicate flowers like butterflies at the ends. The center is burgundy, the flower edge is warm yellow. Even the buds are beautifully decorative.
