The Oriental poppy originates from the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on rocky slopes and dry meadows. It blooms with large bowl-shaped flowers on tall stems. Like all poppies, for use in bouquets, we harvest them as soon as the buds color up and "crack". Additionally, we briefly (for about 20 seconds) sear the ends of the stems with a flame and immediately place them in cold water. Then they last in a vase for 4 days. The strikingly hairy and large leaves die back shortly after flowering, and the plant must rest until spring to gather strength. A portion of the leaves sprouts again in late summer. Therefore, it is advisable to plant other perennials in close proximity that sprout later and can draw attention to themselves during the poppy's pause. Royal Wedding flowers have white petals with a dark burgundy spot in the center of the flower.

Ideální umístění a nároky na vláhu
Pro úspěšné pěstování bělotrnu 'Arctic Glow' je klíčové pochopit jeho původ. Jelikož pochází ze suchých a slunných strání, bude na vaší zahradě vyžadovat podobné podmínky. Vyhraďte mu plně osluněné stanoviště, kde se slunce opírá do listů většinu dne. Stín nebo polostín způsobí, že se rostlina bude vytahovat za světlem, její typicky načervenalé stonky budou slabé a květenství méně výrazná. Co se týče vláhy, platí zde pravidlo, že méně je více. Bělotrn je vybaven k tomu, aby hospodařil s minimem vody, a proto je výbornou volbou pro tzv. xerofytní výsadby nebo štěrkové záhony, které nevyžadují pravidelnou zálivku. Přílišná vlhkost, zejména v zimním období, je pro něj větším nepřítelem než letní sucho. Zemina musí být perfektně propustná, klidně i s vyšším obsahem kamení nebo písku.
Výsadba sazenice a údržba během roku
Vzhledem k výšce dospělé rostliny, která může dosahovat až 120 cm, a její šířce, doporučujeme sázet přibližně 4 rostliny na metr čtvereční. Tím zajistíte, že porost bude zapojený, ale jednotlivé trsy si nebudou konkurovat. Během vegetace se nemusíte obávat škůdců ani chorob, bělotrn je v tomto ohledu velmi odolný a bezúdržbový. Vaše péče se omezí především na estetické úpravy. Pokud chcete zabránit vysemeňování rostliny do okolí, což bělotrny rády dělají, ostříhejte odkvetlé stonky hned po odkvětu. Tento řez může někdy podpořit i slabší druhé kvetení na konci léta. Na jaře pak odstraňte všechny suché nadzemní části těsně nad zemí, aby uvolnily místo novým stříbřitě zeleným listům.

An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of tiny flowers. It blooms for a record-breaking length of time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that release a minty-spicy scent. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses as well as in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This calamint is generally more vigorous. It differs from other calamints with felted leaves by its record flowering length, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable.
