Máčka nesnáší těžké, jílovité a přemokřené půdy, ve kterých jí v zimě uhnívají kořeny. Pokud máte na zahradě těžší zeminu, je nutné ji před výsadbou sazenice vylehčit štěrkem nebo pískem, případně vytvořit vyvýšený záhon, kde voda rychle odtéká. Při výsadbě dodržujte spon zhruba 45–50 cm (3 až 5 rostlin na m²), aby měl vzduch možnost volně proudit mezi rostlinami, což funguje jako prevence houbových chorob.
Co se týče zálivky a výživy, máčka je typickou rostlinou suchých stepí a štěrkových záhonů. Sazenice potřebují pravidelnější zálivku pouze krátce po výsadbě, než dostatečně zakoření. Dospělé rostliny jsou velmi odolné vůči suchu a doplňkovou vodu vyžadují jen v období extrémních veder. Vyhněte se přehnojování, zejména hnojivy s vysokým obsahem dusíku. V příliš výživné půdě máčka ztrácí svůj kompaktní tvar, vytahuje se a může poléhat. Rostlina má silný kůlovitý kořen, který jí umožňuje čerpat vláhu z hloubky, ale zároveň ji činí citlivou na přesazování, proto ji sázejte rovnou na trvalé místo. Pozor si dejte na hraboše, kterým sladké kořeny máček velmi chutnají.
Údržba během sezóny je minimální. Máčka je sice krátkověká trvalka, ale na stanovišti se spolehlivě udržuje samovýsevem, pokud jí to dovolíte. Odkvetlá květenství můžete na podzim odstranit, čímž zabráníte vysemenění, nebo je na rostlině ponechat pro zimní efekt, kdy stříbřité hlavičky ojíněné mrazem vypadají kouzelně. Rostlina je plně mrazuvzdorná (až do -34 °C), takže zimní ochranu nepotřebuje, pokud má sucho u kořenů. Pokud byste chtěli pěstovat 'Glitter White' v nádobě, je to možné, ale volte hlubší květináč kvůli dlouhému kořenu. Na dno dejte silnou drenážní vrstvu a použijte substrát smíchaný s pískem v poměru 1:1. Na balkoně ji umístěte na nejteplejší a nejslunnější místo.

Eryngium yuccifolium catches the eye at first glance with its exotic appearance, which resembles a desert yucca more than a classic perennial. It originates from the steppe regions and light forests of the eastern USA, where it has learned to manage water excellently. Thanks to this, it is an ideal choice for sunny and dry locations with well-drained, even poorer sandy soil. It forms a basal rosette of stiff, blue-green to gray-green leaves, from which tall stems topped with spherical inflorescences grow in summer. The flowers are up to 2.5 cm in diameter and their color transitions from silvery white to greenish. The plant is very hardy and does not suffer from pests or diseases.
