Although it belongs to the lower-growing species, the 'Blue Giant' cultivar lives up to its name and excels with slightly larger flowers than are common for Siberian squills. Especially when planted in larger groups, it creates an impressive sight.
It is perfectly suited as an underplanting for deciduous trees and shrubs, where spring sunlight can still easily reach. Ladonička bleděmodrá odrůdy Blue Giant je mimořádně nenáročná cibulovina, která potěší i naprosté zahradnické začátečníky. Pro úspěšné pěstování vyžaduje především kvalitní humózní a dobře propustnou půdu, ve které se nebude držet přebytečná voda. Z hlediska světla je ideální slunné stanoviště nebo lehký polostín. Velmi často se sází jako podrost pod opadavé listnaté stromy a keře. Vykvete totiž brzy z jara, ještě před jejich olistěním, kdy na ni bez problémů dopadají sluneční paprsky. Jakmile pak stromy vyraší a začnou vrhat stín, ladonička přirozeně zatáhne živiny zpět do cibule a v klidu pod zemí přečká až do příštího jara. Výsadba obdržených cibulek probíhá tradičně v podzimních měsících, ideálním obdobím je září, říjen nebo i listopad, dokud půda nepromrzne. Pokud se do sázení nemůžete pustit okamžitě po doručení balíčku, uskladněte cibule na sušším, temném a chladnějším místě, aby předčasně nerašily. Do záhonu nebo trávníku je sázejte do hloubky 5 až 8 centimetrů. Protože kultivar Blue Giant působí zdaleka nejlépe, když vytvoří souvislý rozkvetlý koberec, doporučujeme cibulky umisťovat do hnízd s rozestupy 5 až 10 centimetrů od sebe. Na jeden metr čtvereční tak bez obav využijete zhruba 100 až 150 cibulek, které se časem začnou samy pěkně rozrůstat. Péče během samotné vegetační sezóny je naprosto minimální. Ohledně zazimování můžete zůstat zcela v klidu, ladonička je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -40 °C.
