Pěstování papouškovitého tulipánu Parrot Prince je skvělou volbou i pro úplné začátečníky, protože tato rostlina nevyžaduje žádnou složitou péči. Cibule sázejte na slunné až polostinné stanoviště, kde se jejich tmavě fialovým květům bude nejlépe dařit a získají svou typickou sytou barvu. Zásadní je pro ně výběr vhodné půdy, která by měla být humózní, hlinitá a především dobře propustná. Přemokření cibulím obecně nesvědčí, proto pokud máte na zahradě těžší jílovitou zeminu, velmi doporučujeme na dno výsadbové jamky přidat trochu písku nebo štěrku pro lepší drenáž. Rostlina má pouze střední nároky na vláhu, takže v běžném jaru si bohatě vystačí s přirozenými srážkami.
Cibule se vysazují na podzim, ideálně v období od září do listopadu, vždy ještě před příchodem prvních trvalých mrazů. Sází se špičkou nahoru do hloubky 10 až 15 centimetrů. Dodržujte mezi nimi odpovídající rozestupy 10 až 15 centimetrů, což v praxi znamená zhruba 45 až 100 cibulí na metr čtvereční. Pokud cibule nesázíte ihned po nákupu, bezpečně je uskladněte na chladném, suchém a dobře větraném místě, aby nedošlo k jejich předčasnému klíčení. Během jara rostlina dorůstá do výšky 40 až 50 centimetrů a díky silným stonkům nevyžaduje žádnou dodatečnou oporu, a to ani na větrnějších místech.
