Big bluestem (Vousatice) is a North American prairie grass. In the garden, it adapts well to various moisture conditions. Its color variability is interesting; it sprouts in shades of grey-green, changes to purplish-brown during the season, and remains attractive in shape and color even through winter. The unusually shaped and striking inflorescences are perfect for fresh and dried bouquets. The delicate flowers are elegantly pendulous. Grey-green in summer. In late autumn, the leaves and spikes of the Red Frost cultivar turn a strikingly reddish color.

Panicle hydrangeas are beautiful shrubs originating from China and Japan, where their bark, among other things, was used for paper production. We cultivate them for their impressive conical flower clusters. They are undemanding and abundantly flowering plants suitable for planting in beds and larger containers. The cultivar Phantom is an airily structured shrub. The conical inflorescences retain their creamy white color throughout the entire flowering period, only turning light pink at the very end.

Physostegia is native to the eastern regions of North America, where it grows on riverbanks and in damp meadows. It forms upright, bushy clumps that spread outwards by root suckers. The flowers are shaped like slender spikes with four rows of tubular flowers, resembling snapdragons. Harvest them as soon as the first flowers in the inflorescence open; they will continue to bloom in the vase. In a bouquet, they are a suitable companion for dahlias and last 10–14 days in a vase. The spent flower spikes with seeds are interesting and can also be used for drying. Vivid is shorter and more compact, blooming early and profusely. The flower color is distinctively purplish-pink.

Pennisetum originates from East Asia, growing in meadows and bright forests. It forms hemispherical clumps of narrow leaves that, like the flowers, develop color in autumn. They are suitable for vases and for drying. Moudry is a compact, lower cultivar. The flowers are dark purple to almost black. The leaves are rich green.

The Squaw cultivar immediately captivates with its wine-red colored leaves and brownish-pink flowers.

This species of knotweed originates from the Himalayas and China, where it grows in shrubs and mountain meadows along streams at high altitudes. It forms sturdy clumps of fresh green, pointed leaves. Above them, from summer onwards, upright, narrow, candle-like inflorescences appear, composed of individual small flowers. It is a very popular perennial, recently bred into many cultivars and used in Western Europe in larger park and garden designs. It excels with a long flowering period in late summer and good vase life. It was chosen as the perennial of the season 2023 by the Czech Perennial Society. The white variety Alba stands out particularly well against a darker background and has long-lasting flowers.

Agastache rugosa originates from areas of China and Japan. Its serrated leaves resemble nettle leaves but do not sting, and when rubbed between the fingers, they release a minty-anise scent. It is a stable, upright growing plant. Hardy and robust, it successfully tolerates our winters. It remains interesting for cutting even after flowering. It lasts 7 days in a vase.

An undemanding and modest perennial that blooms with a large number of small flowers. It flowers for a record long time throughout late summer and autumn. It forms smaller, compact, airy bushes that emit a minty, spicy fragrance. The thyme-like flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. It will look good among roses and in naturalistic steppe beds, perhaps with lower grasses. This Marjoram is generally taller. Unlike other Marjorams with felted leaves, it stands out for its record-breaking flowering duration, stiff and shiny leaves, and also a larger number of flowers that do not form seeds and are therefore maximally durable. It is sometimes sold under the cultivar name 'Triumphator'.

An undemanding native grass that forms a dense green cover. In May, long stems emerge with delicate, heart-shaped spikelets resembling small hearts. Their movement with the slightest breeze is very striking. It remains beautiful until August or September. It's a good idea to trim it after flowering. It is perfectly suitable for drying.

Southernwood, also known popularly as 'God's tree'. Originally a heat-loving perennial from southern Europe. Interesting not only for its fragrance, but also for its delicate airy appearance and silvery coloration. It will look beautiful in combination with herbs and delicate drought-tolerant perennials and grasses.

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly spreading clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. Stems typically bear four to five flowers. They bloom very early, in late winter and early spring. They are suitable for vases only after prominent seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Before that, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower upright. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Double Ellen White is an almost pure white, double-flowered hellebore. Its petals are slightly wavy, and the lower row of petals is subtly tinted green.

A beautiful lower grass, valued for its early sprouting and long-lasting foliage well into winter. The flowers are rather inconspicuous, beige, and appear in green clumps later in summer and autumn. The leaf color is bright green. A great combination with species such as savory, gaura, or oregano.

A very hardy and long-lived perennial with an almost year-round effect. It forms upright clumps, and its flowers attract bees and butterflies. The 'Brilliant' cultivar is characterized by bushy growth and a striking pink color.
