Thanks to its origin, it is perfectly suited for shady and semi-shady places in the garden, where many other plants fail to thrive. It grows in clumps and gradually spreads by means of short runners, thereby effectively suppressing weed growth and functioning as a reliable groundcover. The Alba cultivar is characterized by bright white tiny flowers that literally light up the darker corners of the garden in April and May. Although the plant is tiny, it looks very impressive and fresh in an area. It is a long-lived and completely undemanding perennial, ideal even for beginner gardeners, which furthermore does not suffer from diseases or pests. During the blooming period, it is also a welcome food source for bees and other early pollinators.

Pupkovec Alba je ideální volbou pro ta místa v zahradě, kde se trávníku ani jiným světlomilným rostlinám nedaří. Protože obdržíte již vzrostlou sazenici, můžete ji vysadit prakticky kdykoliv během vegetační sezóny. Pro úspěšné pěstování je klíčový výběr správného stanoviště, které by mělo simulovat původní prostředí horských lesů. Vyberte tedy polostinné až stinné místo, například pod korunami listnatých stromů, keřů nebo na severní straně domu. Přímé polední slunce by mohlo jemné listy popálit. Půda by měla být hlinitá, humózní a především stále mírně vlhká, ale zároveň propustná. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou jílovitou půdu, doporučujeme ji před výsadbou vylehčit kompostem nebo listovkou, aby kořeny nestály ve vodě a nezahnívaly.
Doporučujeme sázet 9 až 12 rostlin na metr čtvereční, tedy ve vzdálenosti zhruba 25–30 cm od sebe. Zálivka je důležitá hlavně v prvních týdnech po výsadbě a během horkých letních dnů, pupkovec má rád vláhu a nesnáší úplné vyschnutí kořenového balu. Velmi mu prospěje mulčování, pomůže udržet vlhkost v půdě a zároveň podpoří přirozený lesní charakter výsadby.
Jednou z největších výhod této trvalky je její naprostá nenáročnost a odolnost. Netrpí na žádné specifické choroby ani škůdce, takže se obejdete bez chemických postřiků. Rostlina se rozrůstá pomocí krátkých výběžků, čímž postupně zapojuje porost a přirozeně potlačuje růst plevele. Na jaře, po odkvětu, můžete rostliny přihnojit organickým hnojivem nebo kompostem pro podporu listové plochy, ale není to nezbytné. Ačkoliv nemá zimní efekt (není stálezelená), je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -29 °C (zóna 5b) a nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu. Na jaře stačí pouze odstranit staré a nevzhledné listy, aby udělaly místo novým svěže zeleným přírůstkům.
