Thanks to this origin, it handles heavier clay soils that retain moisture well perfectly in the garden. It forms upright and dense clumps that gradually spread into the surroundings using underground runners, so over time it will fill empty spots in the flowerbed. Its pure white flowers are arranged in slender spikes in four regular rows, and their shape may resemble Snapdragons. The Summer Snow cultivar is particularly valued for its bright coloration and early onset of flowering, thanks to which it enlivens the garden already in the second half of summer.
This perennial is absolutely invaluable for florists and lovers of cut flowers. We harvest the stems the moment the first small flowers open on the spike. In a vase, the plant then continues to bloom and stays fresh for ten to fourteen days. In bouquets, it forms a beautiful vertical element and is a great companion for colorful Dahlias. Řetězovka Summer Snow je vděčnou trvalkou, která prosperuje na plném slunci i v lehkém polostínu, avšak klíčem k její spokojenosti je neustálý dostatek vláhy. Je to jedna z mála okrasných rostlin, která vyloženě ocení těžší, jílovité a humózní půdy, jež přirozeně zadržují vodu a nevysychají tak rychle jako písčité substráty. Pokud máte na zahradě místo, kde se voda drží déle nebo kde je půda přirozeně mokřejší, bude to pro řetězovku ideální domov, například poblíž zahradních jezírek nebo ve vlhčích trvalkových záhonech. Před výsadbou sazenice je vhodné půdu prokypřit a obohatit kompostem, který pomůže udržet živiny i potřebnou vlhkost. Protože se rostlina rozrůstá pomocí podzemních výběžků a tvoří husté trsy, pamatujte při výsadbě na dostatečný prostor a sázejte rostliny ve sponu přibližně 50 cm od sebe, aby měly místo pro svůj vitální růst a zároveň byla zajištěna dobrá cirkulace vzduchu.

Zálivka by měla být pravidelná a vydatná; sucho by mohlo způsobit vadnutí listů a slabší násadu květů. Rostlina je poměrně náročná na živiny, proto jí na jaře dopřejte dávku plného hnojiva nebo dobře rozleželého kompostu, což podpoří bujný růst a bohaté kvetení čistě bílými klasy. Velkou výhodou řetězovky je její vynikající zdravotní stav – netrpí na běžné choroby a škůdci se jí zpravidla vyhýbají, takže odpadá starost s chemickou ochranou. Během sezóny můžete rostlinu využívat k řezu do váz, kde vydrží svěží až dva týdny. Pokud stonky nesklidíte, odstraňování odkvetlých květenství podpoří tvorbu nových postranních výhonů a prodlouží dobu kvetení až do podzimu.
Zimování a pěstování v nádobách
Řetězovka je plně mrazuvzdorná trvalka, která v našich podmínkách bez problémů zvládá teploty až do -34 °C (zóna 4a), takže nevyžaduje žádnou speciální zimní ochranu ani zakrývání chvojím. Naopak, její pevné stonky se semeníky působí v zimní zahradě velmi dekorativně, zvláště když je pokryje jinovatka, proto se zpětný řez suchých částí provádí až brzy na jaře před rašením nových lístků. Co se týče pěstování v nádobách, je to možné, ale pro pěstitele to představuje výzvu v podobě udržení vlhkosti. Pokud se rozhodnete pro pěstování v truhlíku či květináči, zvolte co největší nádobu s humózním substrátem a nezapomeňte na opravdu častou zálivku, protože kořenový bal v omezeném prostoru vysychá mnohem rychleji než ve volné půdě. V nádobě rostlina pravděpodobně nedosáhne takové mohutnosti jako v záhonu, ale radost vám svými květy udělá i na terase.
