Allium sphaerocephalon, Loukykvět

Allium sphaerocephalon

The round-headed garlic draws attention with its striking flowers, which form unmistakable dark purple and burgundy dots. It is a summer-blooming variety that reaches a height of about seventy to one hundred centimeters. Its egg-shaped inflorescences, three to five centimeters in size, are densely packed and appear from June to August. Its leaves resemble chives in shape, but it is typical for summer garlic that they begin to naturally yellow and wither during the blooming period. The deep color of the flowers stands out perfectly in mixed prairie plantings alongside delicate ornamental grasses. Furthermore, the dense inflorescences act as a magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Anyone who creates home arrangements will love this plant. Tulip Honeymoon, Loukykvět

Tulipa

The 'Honeymoon' tulip brings purity and elegance to the spring garden with a very interesting detail in the form of delicately fringed petal edges. We long overlooked purely white cultivars, but this variety clearly showed us that white color definitely doesn't have to be boring. When it starts to bloom in the spring, it first shows only small buds, from which surprisingly massive flowers later emerge. These snow-white heads rise to a height of forty to fifty centimeters and contrast beautifully with the fresh green leaves. The use of this variety in the garden is vast. You can plant it in purely white compositions to create a quiet corner, or use it as a neutral base that softens sharp transitions between the wilder shades of other spring flowers. It stands out beautifully in the front parts of flowerbeds and along paths, where you can admire the structure of the flowers up close. 'Honeymoon' is also excellent as a cut flower for vases. Its sturdy, upright growth ensures compact bouquets that will bring a breath of fresh spring into your home.

Cultivation

Vyberte pro ně slunné až polostinné stanoviště s propustnou, humózní a hlinitou půdou. Cibule sázejte do hloubky 10 až 15 centimetrů, špičkou směrem nahoru. Dodržujte mezi nimi rozestupy 10 až 15 centimetrů, což odpovídá zhruba padesáti až šedesáti cibulím na metr čtvereční. Dobrá propustnost zeminy je naprosto klíčová, protože v přemokřené půdě by cibule mohly začít velmi rychle zahnívat.

Během jarního růstu a kvetení v dubnu až květnu udržujte půdu mírně vlhkou. Zálivku vždy přizpůsobte aktuálnímu počasí, rostlina vyžaduje spíše střední množství vláhy a nemá ráda dlouhodobé sucho ani nadbytek vody. Tulipán Antartica dorůstá výšky 40 až 50 centimetrů a díky mimořádně pevným stonkům nepotřebuje žádnou oporu, což z něj činí ideální volbu pro úplné začátečníky.
