Baptisia Bright Blue

A lesser-known species of yarrow has dark green, shiny, serrated-lobed leaves that remain attractive throughout the growing season, with sweetly pink flowers that are larger than those of common yarrow. Lasts 10 days in a vase.

Baptisia originates from North America, belongs to the pea family (Fabaceae), and visually resembles lupine – the bigleaf lupine. However, unlike lupine, it doesn't suffer from fungal diseases and isn't as appealing to slugs. In addition to its blue flowers, the large pods that adorn the plant long after flowering are also interesting. North American Indians used baptisia roots to disinfect wounds and reduce fever, and the leaves for dyeing fabrics. Patience is key with baptisia; it takes some time to fully establish and develop a robust root system adapted to survive long periods of drought and fires. Then it is very long-lived. It was chosen as the Perennial of the Year for the 2019 season.

Bleeding hearts are originally native to Korea and China, where they grow in bright deciduous forests. They are among the classic garden perennials. They will look perfect in nostalgically themed flower beds, and the white variant also fits into naturalistic woodland gardens. They are beloved for their heart-shaped flowers suspended on horizontal or arching stems. These fade and die back some time after flowering, with all the plant's energy concentrating into the roots, at which point the above-ground part can be completely cut back. 'Nora Leigh' captivates with creamy variegated leaves, complemented by delicate pinkish-white flowers with a darker eye. Thanks to its light foliage, it can brighten darker corners of the garden.

Broadleaf sea lavender, also known as Statice, is a plant originally from the steppe regions of Southern Europe. Leathery leaves form basal rosettes, from which veiled panicles of tiny, light lavender-colored flowers emerge. Perfect for bouquets; for drying, harvest when the flowers are fully colored.

Květy mají tvar štíhlého klasu se čtyřmi řadami trubkovitých květů a připomínají květy hledíků. Sklízíme, jakmile se otevřou první květy v květenství, ve váze pak pokračují v nakvétání. Brunnera is a long-lived perennial native to the mountain meadows and forests of the Caucasus. It is interesting not only when in bloom. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, and light green. Kromě modrých květů jsou na ní zajímavé právě velké lusky, které rostlinu zdobí ještě dlouho po odkvětu. Severoameričtí indiáni používali kořeny baptisie k dezinfekci ran a na snížení horečky a listy k barvení látek. U baptisie je nejdůležitější trpělivost, trvá jí nějaký čas, než se plně ujme a vytvoří mohutný kořenový systém uzpůsobený pro přežití dlouhých období sucha i požárů. Pak je velmi dlouhověká.
