Helleborus orientalis

Hellebore Color Mix

The Eastern hellebore is undoubtedly the queen of the winter and early spring garden. While most other perennials are still sleeping under the snow, this hardy plant is already displaying its flowers to the freezing air. It originally comes from the light deciduous forests and scrublands of the eastern Mediterranean and the Caucasus, so in your garden, it will also appreciate a partially shady to shady spot with humus-rich and well-drained soil, ideally under the canopies of deciduous trees. It is a long-lived evergreen perennial that forms dense clumps of dark green leathery leaves. These fulfill a decorative function all year round, but the real miracle comes from February to April, when the plant becomes the first refuge for awakening bees and bumblebees. Our color mix offers surprises in elegant shades from pure white and cream to soft peach and various tones of light pink. If you want to bring the beauty of hellebores home into a vase, you must be a little patient. Only cut the stems when prominent seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower is fully mature. Young flowers tend to wilt, but mature ones will bring you joy in a vase for a very long time. Keep in mind that the entire plant is poisonous, which protects it from pests in nature, but requires caution when handling. Show full description

Helleborus orientalis

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly spreading clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. The stems usually carry four to five flowers. They bloom very early, as early as late winter and early spring. They can be used in a vase only after conspicuous seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Picked earlier, they tend to wilt and the stems cannot hold the flower upright. All parts of the plant are poisonous. The semi-double flowers of the Double Ellen Picotee hellebore take on white and light pink hues with a purplish-burgundy edging.

Helleborus orientalis

Hellebores are evergreen perennials that form slowly expanding clumps of leathery, dark green leaves. The stems usually carry four to five flowers. They bloom very early, already at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. They are usable for a vase only after the conspicuous seed pods form in the center of the flower and the flower matures. Earlier, they have a tendency to wilt, and the stems will not hold the flower in an upright position. All parts of the plant are poisonous. Verbena bonariensis

A verbena species originally from South America. In our country, it is often used as an annual, but in mild winters it can overwinter and reproduce by self-seeding. The firm, airy stems beautifully soften perennial beds and make them special with their purple color. It beautifully complements steppe plantings with grasses and rose beds.

Aquilegia vulgaris

The common columbine is a versatile perennial that will reliably inhabit both rural and modern flowerbeds. In the wild, it grows on the edges of forests and in light groves across all of Europe, which is why it thrives best in the garden in full sun to partial shade and ordinary loamy soil rich in humus. Its main charm lies in its unusually shaped flowers, but it is also valuable for its very early sprouting green leaves, which awaken the garden after winter. You will receive a beautifully grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to your chosen spot. Although the plant is poisonous, it represents a huge asset for gardeners. Even complete beginners can manage growing it, pests avoid it, and it easily survives severe frosts dropping to minus thirty-four degrees. During May and June, delicate flowers bloom on sturdy, sixty to eighty-centimeter-tall stems, bringing typical airiness and lightness to the planting. The 'Kristall' cultivar is a large-flowered variety that stands out with pure white flowers and prominent spurs. These act as a reliable magnet for bees, bumblebees, and other beneficial pollinators. Keep in mind that in a favorable location, columbine very willingly self-seeds, taking care of natural-looking wild stands. It works well in perennial beds and as an undergrowth beneath taller shrubs. If you like bringing a piece of the garden home, columbine certainly won't disappoint you. It is perfectly suited for cutting and will bring a novel structure to spring bouquets. Fresh flowers will bring you joy in a vase for about seven days. If you leave some of the flowers to finish blooming on the flowerbed, they will form interesting seed pods, which are highly popular among florists for creating various natural decorations and can also be dried well. Just watch out for the occasional occurrence of powdery mildew during the drier months, but otherwise, the plant needs almost no care.

Digitalis purpurea

The 'Dalmatian White' foxglove is a majestic flower that will naturally bring the magic of forest clearings and light groves into your garden. Originally, it is a native species of Central Europe. In the garden, it thrives best in partial shade or in the sun, in well-drained and slightly moist loamy soil. It is a very undemanding plant avoided by pests and diseases, so even a beginner can easily manage growing it. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which just needs to be transplanted into the flower bed. It can handle severe frosts and grows as a short-lived perennial or biennial. In spring, it puts out sturdy stems, and from May to June, floods of pure white bell-shaped flowers open on them. These act as a great attraction for pollinators. In a suitable location, it reliably self-seeds, so you will not lose it. It is excellent for natural plantings, and its flowers are very popular for cutting into vases. They will stay fresh at home for six to eight days. Keep in mind, however, that all parts of the plant are poisonous.

Geum chiloense

Avens Totally Tangerine will brighten any garden with its cup-shaped flowers in warm shades that resemble the color of ripe tangerines. The original botanical species of this cute avens originate from the mountainous regions of Chile, which is why it thrives best even in our conditions in well-drained, humus-rich, and loamy soil. It handles frosts down to minus twenty-eight degrees without problems, and even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it, as it does not suffer from diseases or pests. You will get an already grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply transplant straight into the flowerbed in sun or partial shade. It is ideal to plant the plants about half a meter apart. Here it will soon form a dense clump of green leaves, from which sturdy stems up to ninety centimeters tall emerge, and they do not need any support. Although it is a short-lived perennial, it will make up for everything with its incredible persistence in blooming. Unlike other avens, the Totally Tangerine variety starts its blooming season a little later, but in return, it will delight you without a break from May to September. The semi-double flowers also gradually transition into a deep salmon to dark peach color and are a literal magnet for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. In a flowerbed, it functions excellently as a filler plant, nicely connecting other perennials with its neutral structure. You will also enjoy the blooming avens at home. It is excellently suited for cutting into summer bouquets. We recommend cutting the stems when a quarter to half of the flowers on the branch are already open. They will then last about a week in a vase and gently liven up any arrangement. Although it is not suitable for drying, it will do a lot of work in the flowerbed even through winter, when its foliage and remains of stems create an interesting winter effect under frost or snow.

Digitalis purpurea

The Dalmatian Rose cultivar brings an unmistakable charm to gardens with striking pink flowers on sturdy stems. Foxglove is a native species of Central Europe, seeking out moist meadows and forest glades. We have prepared a mature seedling in a pot for you, which you can easily transplant to the flowerbed. It suits sun and partial shade, and will most appreciate ordinary loamy and well-drained soil. It forms a basal rosette of leaves and in spring sends up stems up to one hundred and twenty centimeters tall. As a short-lived perennial, it self-seeds in a suitable location, so you will not lose it. The flowers bloom during May and attract bees, butterflies, and bumblebees from afar. It is an extremely undemanding plant without pests, surviving severe frosts around minus twenty-eight degrees. Since the entire plant is poisonous, it is mainly suitable for ornamental flowerbeds. It serves excellently for floristic purposes and in bouquets. Stems with bells stay fresh in a vase for six to eight days. This variety blooms abundantly right in its first year and has a very distinct pattern in the throat.

Brunnera macrophylla

The largeleaf brunnera comes from the moist mountain forests of the Caucasus, where it forms dense undergrowth. It is an ideal perennial for shady and semi-shady corners of your garden, where it will thrive in humus-rich, moist soil. It resembles classic forget-me-nots in appearance, but don't be fooled, its leaves are much larger, heart-shaped, and rough to the touch. Thanks to them, it acts as a great groundcover plant that sprouts early in the spring and reliably covers bare soil with its leaves until late autumn. It thus forms a natural contrasting background for the delicate, tiny flowers. Tiny sky-blue flowers appear in April, May, and June, creating a beautiful delicate veil over the green carpet of leaves. The flower clusters are also suitable for cutting into spring hand-tied bouquets, where they look very tender. Just watch out for snails and slugs, who like to feast on the juicy leaves of the brunnera, so it's a good idea to check the plants regularly. It is a long-lived and hardy perennial that handles severe frosts without problems and will bring you joy in one place for many years.

Cephalaria gigantea

Giant scabious is an imposing solitary perennial that will bring a striking vertical structure and natural wild charm to the garden. It comes from the mountain meadows of the Caucasus, which dictates its growing requirements. From the delivered seedling, a highly noticeable plant with a massive, sparsely branched growth will quickly grow in full sun or partial shade and humus-rich loamy soil. Given its dimensions, we recommend planting one piece per square meter. It commonly reaches a height of up to two and a half meters, yet it needs no support at all. From June to August, it forms scabiosa-like flowers in pastel yellow to lime colors on long stems. This creates a very effective contrast between the relatively massive bulk of green leaves and the airy, wiry stems with small flower heads. It resists frosts down to minus thirty-four degrees without any problems, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and easily self-seeds. It is a highly attractive lure for bees and other pollinators. The unusual flowers are perfectly suited for cutting; they last about five days in a vase. The faded inflorescences are also interesting, useful for drying and floristry purposes. If you leave them in the flower bed, they will provide a beautiful winter effect.

Lathyrus latifolius

The perennial sweet pea Red Pearl with its rich colors easily livens up any empty fence or pergola. In the wild, you will find it predominantly in light woodlands and on warm slopes across Europe. In our climate, it will do great in a sunny to semi-shady spot with ordinary loamy and well-drained soil. It does not require any complicated care, so even a complete beginner can easily handle its cultivation. It is a climbing plant that likes to climb to a height of up to two and a half meters. As soon as our grown seedling in a pot arrives at your home, choose a place for it by a reliable support and give it adequate watering after transplanting. Throughout the entire summer, it forms conspicuous pinkish-red flowers, which, unlike their annual relatives, do not smell, but make up for it with their endurance and ability to attract bees from the entire surroundings. The Red Pearl variety stands out precisely for its intense flower color and excellent health, thanks to which it does not suffer from pests or common diseases. Moreover, it is fully frost-hardy and will survive the winter without any problems. The long flowering shoots are perfect for a vase, where they give a very natural rustic impression. Just keep in mind that the whole plant is poisonous, so handle it carefully after cutting.

Polemonium caeruleum f. album

The White Pearl Jacob's ladder presents an elegant yet very resilient perennial that overwinters without problems in our conditions. The original species grows in damp habitats from Europe to Siberia, making it an ideal plant for humus-rich and moister soils. If you have a spot in the garden that is not explicitly dry, Jacob's ladder will reward you with vital growth and abundant blooming. Its leaves are divided and arranged so regularly that they resemble the rungs of a ladder. This is where its common name, Jacob's ladder, comes from. During June and July, stems with pure white flowers adorned with delicate yellow stamens tower above the clumps of leaves. The White Pearl variety grows to a height of around 80 centimeters and looks very airy in perennial beds. It is perfectly suited for partially shaded areas but will also tolerate sun if provided with regular watering. The flowers are a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects. Floristically, Jacob's ladder is valuable for its longevity and decorative appearance. We cut the stems the moment the first third of the flowers has bloomed, so they last as long as possible in a vase, which is usually seven to ten days. The pure white flower color of White Pearl is easy to combine and brings peace and harmony to summer arrangements. The plant does not suffer from pests or diseases and is also suitable for novice growers looking for undemanding beauty.

Phlomis russeliana

Phlomis, sometimes nicknamed Jerusalem sage, is a valuable perennial bringing a Mediterranean atmosphere to the garden. Originally from the Greek islands and Turkey, this plant is accustomed to harsher conditions, thanks to which it perfectly handles our hot summers and poorer, well-drained soils. Its gray-green, felt-like leaves form a dense cover that works as a reliable barrier against weeds, and it surprisingly tolerates shade under tree canopies well, provided it is not too moist there. In summer, it will thrill you with pastel yellow flowers arranged in regular whorls above each other, which look very exotic and attract plenty of bees and bumblebees. For florists, phlomis is a literal treasure. The fresh flowers look very elegant in a vase, but dried stems with mature seed pods will put on an even greater show. These hold their shape for a long time and are one of the best materials for dried arrangements. Moreover, you can leave them standing in the flowerbed until spring, because their striking silhouette looks breathtaking when covered in frost. It is a rewarding and long-lived plant that even a complete beginner can easily handle.

The Heidi variety boasts delicate flowers in soft pink tones, which constantly attract bees at the turn of spring and summer. Columbines add a natural flair to perennial beds and even reliably self-seed in their favorite spots. Furthermore, they are highly valued for their green leaves, which form a beautiful undergrowth. Cultivation

  • Mšice: Pravidelně kontrolujte mladé výhony a první poupata.
Čemeřice tvoří hluboký a bohatý kořenový systém, takže potřebuje dostatečně velkou a hlubokou nádobu. Takto pěstovaná čemeřice krásně ozdobí stinné terasy nebo vstupní prostory do domu právě v době, kdy většina ostatních rostlin ještě hluboce spí.

The information given is based on our experience, please use it as a guide only. Helleborus

The lime-green bells of the Magnificent Bells cultivar will light up the shady corners of the garden as early as February and March. Hellebores are rewarding and long-lived perennials, which we find in nature in the undergrowth of deciduous trees and shrubs. It is exactly such conditions, i.e., shade or partial shade and humous soil, that they will appreciate in your garden as well. This cultivar stands out primarily for its rich set of flowers and robust growth up to 60 cm in height. Unlike many other spring flowers, hellebores are evergreen, so their dark green leaves fulfill an ornamental function year-round. Magnificent Bells is also highly valued in floristry for its extraordinary durability. Cut the stems for arrangements only when the flowers are fully mature and you can feel hard seed pods in the middle, otherwise they would quickly wilt in a vase. With the right timing of the cut, they will please you at home for up to two weeks. However, keep in mind that this is a poisonous plant that requires careful handling.

Helleborus argutifolius

Corsican hellebore will bring freshness to your winter and early spring garden with its unique coloration. Its flowers have a fascinating pistachio-green to yellowish color, which contrasts beautifully with the dark green, sharply serrated leaves. This robust perennial, native to the Mediterranean, behaves like an evergreen subshrub in our conditions and grows up to 80 cm tall. Thanks to its growth habit and architectural appearance, it is perfectly suited as a specimen plant or for the background of shady perennial beds, where it fills the space even when other plants are still sleeping. It requires well-drained, humus-rich soil and a location in partial shade or shade. The inflorescences often appear as early as January and keep adorning the plant until March. It is one of the few plants that offer food for insects at such an early time. If you want to enjoy its beauty indoors as well, you can cut the stems with flowers for a vase. However, for a longer vase life, it is necessary to wait until the flowers mature slightly and seed pods start to form in the center; otherwise, they tend to wilt. Given its southern origin, we recommend protecting the plant with a covering of evergreen branches during freezing days without snow so that the leaves retain their decorative value until spring. Remember that the whole plant is poisonous.

Alchemilla mollis

Alchemilla mollis, known as lady's mantle, is an indispensable perennial for anyone who wants to bring harmony and softness to the garden. Its home is the moister environments of mountain meadows and light forests, making it a very adaptable plant that will survive even severe frosts without problems in our climate. The 'Irish Silk' cultivar is prized for its vitality and abundant blooming, where clouds of tiny, yellow-green flowers float above clumps of gray-green leaves. It is precisely this neutral color that can work wonders in a flower bed – it softens overly sharp contrasts between other flowers and beautifully unifies the entire composition. Besides its ornamental function, lady's mantle also has practical uses. Thanks to its clumping growth and ability to quickly fill in, it is ideal for edging pathways or as an underplanting beneath taller shrubs and roses. Water droplets catch on its leaves, creating a magical spectacle in the garden. If you enjoy making bouquets, you will love lady's mantle as versatile filler greenery that matches almost anything. It will last beautiful for about ten days in a vase, and its inflorescences can also be easily dried without losing too much of their color or shape. Moreover, it is a magnet for pollinators, and its young leaves are even edible, so it also finds use in a natural kitchen.

Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura Siskiyou Pink is a charming perennial that brings lightness and airiness to the garden. Its original native area is in the warm regions of Texas and Louisiana, which is why it thrives in full sun and well-drained sandy soil. It grows in clumps and from June until the autumn frosts produces tiny raspberry-pink flowers that resemble fluttering butterflies. An interesting detail of this variety is the green leaves with a bronze tint and red spots. It is an absolutely undemanding plant, does not suffer from diseases or pests, and even beginners can handle its care. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you simply need to transplant directly into the flowerbed. Here it complements ornamental grasses perfectly and acts as an attraction for bees and bumblebees. Although it grows more as a short-lived perennial in our climate, in a suitable place it reliably self-seeds. Occasional pinching will encourage richer branching. Gaura is excellent for summer bouquets. We cut the stems for a vase as soon as the first two to three little flowers open.

Eryngium planum

Sea holly is an indispensable perennial for all lovers of naturally styled gardens. It earned its folk name - male fidelity - in times when it was used in herbal medicine as an aphrodisiac, and its roots were even candied as sweets in France and England. Today, however, you will appreciate it mainly for its low maintenance and unique appearance. Its home is on sunny hillsides and dry meadows, so even in our gardens, it will welcome well-drained, even poorer sandy soil and full sun. It produces upright, sturdy stems topped with blue-purple flowers with prickly bracts, which bring interesting structure and a silvery touch to the flowerbeds. It is literally a magnetic plant for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies, who find a rich food source on it. Floristically, it is extremely valuable, because its flowers are perfectly suited for cutting as well as drying for winter decorations. If you decide not to harvest it, feel free to leave it in the flowerbed all winter. Its silhouette covered in hoarfrost creates a wonderful winter effect. Although it is a short-lived perennial, in a suitable location it reliably self-seeds, so you will enjoy its beauty for many years.

It does not need support, easily withstands severe frosts, and is avoided by common diseases and pests, making it ideal for beginner growers. During June and July, it will reward you with aromatic flowers with unusually narrow and drooping petals in light purple and pink tones. The prominent prickly centers are literally a magnet for bees and bumblebees, and the flowers themselves are surprisingly edible. The plant stands out especially in rustic plantings together with ornamental grasses. Gardeners and florists love it for its versatility. The fresh stems bring joy in a vase for about a week.
