Bowman's Root

This meadow-rue originates from Western China, where it grows on mountain plains and in scrub alongside other tall perennials. This clematis can overgrow fences and trellises; if it does not have support available, it grows as a carpet or bush. The light blue lavender-colored flowers fade or darken depending on the location and air temperature.

Lady's mantle naturally grows on mountain pastures and meadows and in mixed forests. It is ornamental in both leaf and flower. The leaves have fine hairs giving the plant a velvety character. It is a perennial sought after by ancient alchemists for the drops of dew that appear in the pleated leaves. Valuable for florists for its multitude of tiny greenish-yellow flowers. Delicate, decorative, long-lived shade-loving perennials with pinnate leaves and magnificent feathery inflorescences. They originate primarily from East Asia, but also from eastern North America. They look best in mass plantings. Due to relatively late sprouting, it is good to combine them with early-flowering bulbs. Lasts 4–10 days in a vase. It blooms as early as the end of May with bright yellow flowers. Its resilience is due to the strong root system the plant creates, which is why it is even used in anti-erosion plantings.

This sturdy perennial originates from the southern parts of Canada and the northern USA, where it grows in moist meadows. It forms a dense clump of firm stems. The flowers are composed into large flat inflorescences and are an irresistible attraction for bees and butterflies. In gardens, it creates striking solitary features. They are long-lived and last for several decades on the site.

An impressive solitary perennial with a massive, sparsely branched growth type. It produces light yellow-green flowers on long stems resembling Scabious flowers. The contrast between the relatively massive mass of leaves and the airy wire-like stems with small flower heads is very effective. It lasts about 5 days in a vase. Spent inflorescences are also interesting in beds and bouquets.
