The 'Sparkle White' Gaura is a charming, clump-forming perennial whose flowers resemble a flock of tiny white butterflies perched on slender stems. It originally comes from the hot and dry regions of Texas and Louisiana, which is why it loves full sun and well-drained, sandy soil. Although it behaves more like a short-lived plant in gardens, it more than compensates for this with its ability to self-seed on site and its untiring blooming from July until the first autumn frosts. Thanks to its airy growth, it adds lightness and elegant movement to perennial beds as the stems gently sway in the wind. It combines wonderfully with ornamental grasses or as a softening element among more robust plants. It is also a rewarding forage for bees and other pollinators. The 'Sparkle White' variety boasts pure white flowers that will stand out in any natural planting as well as in a vase. For bouquets, we cut the stems when the first two to three blossoms are opening, so that they bring us joy at home for as long as possible and add an airy style to the arrangement.

Svíčkovec Sparkle White je ideální rostlinou pro slunné a sušší partie vaší zahrady, kde díky svým bílým květům rozzáří každý kout. Půdu volte lehkou, propustnou a klidně i kamenitou či štěrkovitou. Tato rostlina nesnáší „mokré nohy“, proto se vyhněte místům, kde se drží voda. Při výsadbě dodržujte rozestupy cca 40 cm (cca 7 rostlin na m²), aby se jednotlivé trsy mohly pěkně rozrůst a vzájemně si nekonkurovaly. Skvěle vypadá v kombinaci s okrasnými trávami, které mají podobné nároky na vláhu.
Během sezóny je údržba minimální. Velkým bonusem je, že svíčkovec netrpí škůdci a vyhýbají se mu i běžné choroby. Vaším hlavním úkolem bude odstraňování odkvetlých stonků, což rostlinu stimuluje k dalšímu nakvétání až do prvních mrazíků. Květy jsou navíc vhodné k řezu – do vázy je stříhejte ve chvíli, kdy se otevírají první dva až tři kvítky, vydrží tak déle svěží. I když je svíčkovec v zahradnické praxi považován za krátkověkou trvalku (dožívá se 3–4 let), má skvělou schopnost se na stanovišti sám přesévat. Pokud tedy na podzim necháte několik stonků dozrát, příští rok se můžete těšit na nové semenáčky, které nahradí starší rostliny.
Zimování je u této rostliny o něco specifičtější. Ačkoliv snese mrazy až k -18 °C (zóna 7a), největším nepřítelem v zimě není chlad, ale vlhkost půdy. Řez nechte až na jarní měsíce (březen/duben), kdy uvidíte, jak rostlina přezimovala. Na zimu je vhodné přihrnout k bázi rostliny suché listí nebo ji přikrýt chvojím, zejména pokud pěstujete v chladnějších oblastech.
Chcete pěstovat svíčkovec na balkoně? Žádný problém. Odrůda Sparkle White v květináčích prospívá výborně. Použijte dostatečně velkou nádobu s otvory na dně a nezapomeňte na drenážní vrstvu. Substrát by měl být chudší, smíchaný s pískem nebo perlitem pro maximální vzdušnost. V nádobách rostlinu zalévejte až tehdy, když je povrch substrátu suchý. Pozor, v nádobě kořeny promrzají rychleji než v záhonu, proto je zimní ochrana květináče (např. obalení jutou nebo polystyrenem) nezbytná.

You will receive from us an already grown seedling in a pot, which will quickly form a vigorous clump after being transplanted into the garden. From early summer until late autumn, it will delight you with a flood of tiny flowers in pure white and delicate pink tones. The flowers gently sway in the breeze and with their appearance resemble a flock of tiny butterflies, which also really like to land on the plant, as do bees and bumblebees. Although gaura is known as a short-lived perennial, thanks to its willing self-seeding, it will last for many years in your garden. Caring for it is completely undemanding, it is avoided by most diseases and pests, and it can handle frosts down to eighteen degrees below zero without any problems. Lesser calamint Blue Cloud is an undemanding and modest perennial that reliably perfumes any sunny garden. Its original homeland is the sunny and dry slopes of Southern Europe, which is why it thrives best here in direct sun in well-drained, sandy, or poorer loamy soil. It handles winter without problems, tolerating frosts down to minus twenty-three degrees. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant straight into the flowerbed, where it will very soon form a compact, airy small shrub reaching a height of up to forty centimeters. It does not suffer from any diseases or pests, so even complete beginners can easily handle caring for it. Throughout late summer and into autumn, it blooms with a record number of tiny blue flowers that are so typical of the Blue Cloud variety.
