Pěstování dobromysli zvládne hravě i úplný začátečník, jelikož k vám dorazí již vzrostlá a zdravá sazenice, kterou stačí rovnou zasadit. Pro úspěšné pěstování je klíčový výběr místa – rostlině dopřejte plné slunce a dostatek tepla. Skvěle se uplatní v suchomilných záhonech nebo skalkách. Půda musí být vysoce propustná a písčitá, aby voda po dešti vždy rychle odtekla. V těžké a trvale mokré zemině by rostlina mohla zahnívat. Ideální spon výsadby je 30 cm, takže na jeden metr čtvereční využijete přibližně 11 rostlin. Při dodržení tohoto rozestupu se porost brzy zapojí a vytvoří hustý voňavý koberec o výšce 20 až 30 centimetrů.
Péče během roku je opravdu minimální. Dobromysli vyhovují místa, která nejsou příliš bohatá na živiny, proto můžeme zcela zapomenout na hnojiva – čím chudší půda je, tím voňavější budou její listy. Zalévejte pouze mladé sazenice bezprostředně po výsadbě, ty dospělé bez potíží zvládnou i silné letní sucho. Od července do září dobromysl bohatě vykvétá čistě bílými květy, které silně přitahují opylovače, takže vaše zahrada okamžitě ožije včelami a motýly. Abyste podpořili vitalitu rostliny, doporučujeme na podzim lehce odstranit odkvetlé výhony. Velikou předností této rostliny je její odolnost – je totiž stoprocentně bez chorob a bez škůdců.
Dobromysl můžeme pěstovat i v květináči, což ocení majitelé teras a balkonů. Při pěstování v nádobách dbejte na kvalitní drenážní vrstvu (například z keramzitu) a mírně pravidelnější zálivku než na záhonu, ovšem substrát nechte mezi zaléváním vždy proschnout. Dobromysl je vynikající mrazuvzdorná trvalka, která v našich podmínkách bezpečně zvládne poklesy teplot až k -23 °C. Během zimy nepotřebuje na záhonu zakrývat chvojím a na jaře z kořenů opět spolehlivě vyraší novými silnými výhony.
