False Mallow is a beautiful long-blooming perennial. Its inflorescence resembles miniature hollyhocks or mallow. It pairs well with classic rose combinations as well as wilder beds with grasses.

They are more persistent than double-flowered forms, which retain the characteristics of biennials.

The original species of this speedwell can be found in nature in moist meadows and on the banks of watercourses. It is perfect for cutting and, depending on conditions, can be used in beds in combination with roses or, conversely, in naturalistic plantings. It is among the resilient and long-lived perennials. Panicle hydrangeas are beautiful shrubs originating from China and Japan, where their bark, among other things, was used for paper production. We cultivate them for their impressive conical flower clusters. They are undemanding and abundantly flowering plants suitable for planting in beds and larger containers. The cultivar Phantom is an airily structured shrub. The conical inflorescences retain their creamy white color throughout the entire flowering period, only turning light pink at the very end.

Delphiniums are a classic and dominant presence among garden perennials. We often see them alongside roses and peonies. To truly stand out, they need ample space and regular fertilization. We can enjoy their beauty in flower beds, bouquets, and even try drying them, as the flowers retain their rich color well. They last 7 days in a vase and are sensitive to ethylene released from ripening fruit.

Coneflowers (Rudbeckia) originate from North America and are robust and profusely flowering perennials of late summer and autumn. They are suitable for prairie plantings with tall grasses and for country gardens by cottages. The central cones, after the seeds ripen, look very effective and adorn perennial beds even through winter. For vases, harvest them as soon as they bloom. Vase life is 7 to 10 days. Dry central cones can also be used. Goldsturm is its most famous cultivar. It has bright golden-yellow flowers with dark centers.

Bee Balm (Monarda) originates from the eastern parts of North America. Most commonly, it grows along roadsides, in shrubs, and at the edges of light forests. These are honey-bearing, aromatic plants, perfectly suitable for cutting and for use in the kitchen. Ensure good growing conditions to prevent powdery mildew. Cambridge Scarlet is an old Monarda cultivar cultivated since 1900. It blooms with brilliant scarlet-red flowers.

Physostegia is native to the eastern regions of North America, where it grows on riverbanks and in damp meadows. It forms upright, bushy clumps that spread outwards by root suckers. The flowers are shaped like slender spikes with four rows of tubular flowers, resembling snapdragons. Harvest them as soon as the first flowers in the inflorescence open; they will continue to bloom in the vase. In a bouquet, they are a suitable companion for dahlias and last 10–14 days in a vase. The spent flower spikes with seeds are interesting and can also be used for drying. Vivid is shorter and more compact, blooming early and profusely. The flower color is distinctively purplish-pink.

They stand out against a darker background of shrub groups and will also be grateful for their partial shade. The Czech Perennial Society chose autumn anemones as the perennial of the season for 2022. They last 7 days in a vase. This is a double-flowered historical variety cultivated since 1902. The flower is full, purplish-pink, and the individual petals are strikingly narrower than other anemones.
