Epimedium Lilafee is a treasure for the shady and semi-shady corners of your garden, where other plants would fail to thrive. The original species grows in the mountain forests of East Asia, which predestines it for life under the canopies of trees and shrubs in the garden as well. This long-lived perennial will enchant you with its variable leaves, which play with bronze to red shades when emerging, turn green in summer, and color up again in autumn. The Lilafee cultivar stands out in April and May with a flood of tiny, purple flowers resembling little elven caps or insect wings. The flowers are tiny, but thanks to their abundance and bold color, they literally glow in the spring shade. The plant requires humous, well-drained, and consistently slightly moist soil. Although it looks fragile, it is fully frost-resistant and undemanding to grow, so even a complete beginner can manage it. The flowers are also suitable for cutting into small spring bouquets, where they look very tender. Just keep in mind that the entire plant is poisonous.

During summer, from June to August, unconventional white-green spherical flowers appear. Although brass buttons is not at all suitable for cutting into a vase or for drying in dry arrangements, its main strength lies in its practical garden use. Oriental poppy Royal Wedding is an unmissable perennial that brings true elegance to the spring garden. It originally comes from the harsher conditions of the Caucasus, Turkey, and Iran, where it grows on sunny rocky slopes and dry meadows. Because of this, it is exceptionally resilient, easily handling frosts down to minus forty degrees, and can do without complex care. You will receive a grown seedling in a pot from us, which you just need to transplant to a sunny location with well-drained loamy soil. The cultivar Royal Wedding will reward you in May and June with huge bowl-shaped flowers with pure white petals, which hide a distinct dark burgundy spot in their center. Moreover, these enchanting flowers reliably attract pollinators from far and wide. It is typical for Oriental poppies that their strikingly fuzzy green leaves die back soon after flowering. The plant takes a break over the warmest summer to gather strength, and a smaller portion of the leaves often sprouts again only at the end of summer. Therefore, it is ideal to plant the poppy in the flower bed in close proximity to other perennials that sprout slightly later and naturally fill the empty space left by the resting poppy. It avoids diseases and needs no support, reaching a height of around sixty to eighty centimeters. Just watch out for field voles, which might develop a taste for its fleshy roots. Otherwise, it is a long-lived plant that even a complete beginner can handle without worries. Given that the plant is poisonous, it is naturally not intended for consumption. The giant white flowers are also a great attraction for lovers of cut flowers, although they require a little trick. Similar to other poppies, the stems need to be harvested exactly at the moment when the buds begin to color and slightly crack. Right after cutting, we sear the ends of the stems with a flame for about twenty seconds to prevent sap leakage, and then we put them into cold water. Thanks to this procedure, they will stay beautiful for about four days in a vase and add amazing lightness to bouquets. Although these delicate flowers are not suitable for drying, they simply have no competition in fresh spring bouquets.

S výškou dvacet až pětadvacet centimetrů se rychle stane nenápadným, ale velmi pracovitým obyvatelem záhonů. Nejlépe se mu daří v dobře propustné hlinité nebo písčité půdě s běžnou zálivkou. Výběr stanoviště a příprava půdy Škornice Lilafee je typickou rostlinou lesního podrostu, proto pro ni v zahradě hledejte místo v polostínu až stínu. Ideální je výsadba pod korunami listnatých stromů nebo keřů, kde bude chráněna před přímým poledním sluncem, které by mohlo popálit její jemné listy. Půda by měla být humózní, propustná a stále mírně vlhká, podobně jako v lese. Pokud máte na zahradě těžkou jílovitou zeminu, je nutné ji vylepšit přidáním vyzrálého kompostu nebo listovky, abyste zajistili odtok přebytečné vody a zároveň dodali potřebné živiny. Rostlina nesnáší trvalé přemokření, ale ani úplné vyschnutí, proto je kvalitní příprava půdy klíčem k úspěchu.
Výsadba a péče Sazenice vysazujte v rozestupech 25–30 cm (přibližně 9–12 rostlin na m2), aby měly dostatek prostoru pro rozrůstání. Po výsadbě rostliny důkladně zalijte a okolí zamulčujte drcenou kůrou nebo štěpkou, což pomůže udržet vlhkost v půdě. Škornice je sice plně mrazuvzdorná (až do -29 °C), ale v prvním roce po výsadbě ocení lehkou přikrývku z chvojí, zvláště pokud panují holomrazy. Během vegetace dbejte na pravidelnou zálivku, zejména v suchých letních měsících. Na jaře můžete rostliny přihnojit hnojivem pro trvalky nebo přidáním čerstvého kompostu k trsům.
Jarní údržba a pěstování v nádobách Velmi důležitým krokem v péči o škornici je jarní řez. Protože je to rostlina, u které listy často přezimují nebo vytrvávají dlouho do zimy, doporučuje se staré listy ostříhat brzy na jaře (ještě před rašením nových květů). Tím zajistíte, že drobné fialové květy nebudou schované ve starém listí a rostlina bude vypadat upraveně a svěže. Škornici lze úspěšně pěstovat i ve větších nádobách či truhlících umístěných ve stínu. V takovém případě nezapomeňte na dobrou drenáž a častější zálivku, protože substrát v květináči vysychá rychleji než volná půda. Pozor si dejte na lalokonosce, jehož larvy mohou ožírat kořeny, a mějte na paměti, že celá rostlina je jedovatá.
