Geums are charming spring perennials with adorable cup-shaped flowers in warm color shades. Flowers grow on long, branched stems. The petals are often ruffled, and the flowers are semi-double. Their clump-forming foliage is also interesting, creating good ground cover over time. Blooming geums are a great attraction for insects, especially butterflies. For bouquets, harvest when a quarter to half of the flowers on the stem are open. They last 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Smokey Peach blooms yellow initially, with flowers darkening to peach over time.
