Digitalis purpurea

Foxglove Hanabee Deep Rose

Originally a native species of Central Europe found in clearings, damp meadows, and light forest edges. Usually a biennial or short-lived perennial. In the first year in autumn, the plant forms a basal rosette of leaves; in the spring, flowering stems grow from them. Further development depends on the location we choose for it. Somewhere it survives another season, elsewhere we have to rely on self-seeding or plant new plants. All parts of the foxglove are poisonous. It lasts 6 to 8 days in a vase. A cultivar from the acclaimed Hanabi series. Besides the ability to bloom in the very first year after sowing, its great advantage is rich branching and thus literally a firework of flowers. The Japanese word hanabi means fireworks. The connection with the English word for bee reminds us of the importance of abundantly blooming perennials for pollinators. Show full description

Cultivation

Tím rostlinu povzbudíte k novému růstu a zabráníte zbytečnému vyčerpání. Květy navíc přitahují obrovské množství včel a dalších opylovačů.
Jde o krátkověkou trvalku, jejíž přízemní růžice stálezelených listů přetrvávají do další sezóny.

Digitalis purpurea

A species native to Central Europe originating from clearings, damp meadows, and light forest edges. Usually a biennial or short-lived perennial. In the first year in autumn, the plant forms a basal rosette of leaves; in spring, flowering stems grow from them. Further development depends on the site we choose. Somewhere it survives another season, elsewhere we must rely on self-seeding or plant new plants. All parts of the foxglove are poisonous. Lasts 6 to 8 days in a vase.

Digitalis lutea

However, it will look just as good in mixed drought-loving steppe plantings with grasses. It lasts 7 days in a vase. The cultivar Caradonna stands out with a long flowering period and dark, almost black-purple stems with tiny purple flowers and dark purple bracts.
