The spring snowflake is a native woodland perennial. It grows naturally in moist mixed and floodplain forests and is a protected species. It thrives in the moist environment of stream and river banks. In such settings, it spreads well on its own into large colonies. The leaves appear together with the flowers, and the plants die back relatively soon after finishing blooming. The drooping bell-shaped flowers grow singly, or rarely in pairs. It propagates best by dividing clumps immediately after flowering.

Když vám zdravé cibulky tulipánu Kobla dorazí, je ideální je ihned zkontrolovat a uskladnit na suchém, chladném a dobře větraném temném místě, dokud nenastane ten správný čas pro jejich výsadbu. Ten přichází v podzimních měsících, ideálně od září do listopadu, kdy už teplota půdy trvale klesne. Pro výsadbu pečlivě vyberte stanoviště, které se nachází na plném slunci nebo v mírném polostínu. Velmi důležitá je volba správné zeminy – tulipány vyžadují dobře propustnou a dostatečně humózní půdu. Pokud máte na zahradě příliš těžkou jílovitou zeminu, doporučujeme ji vylepšit pískem nebo drobným štěrkem, aby u cibulek v zimě nestála voda a nedocházelo k jejich nechtěnému uhnívání.
Samotná výsadba je velmi jednoduchá a hravě ji zvládne i úplný začátečník. Cibulky sázejte špičkou nahoru do hloubky 10 až 15 centimetrů. Abyste vytvořili opravdu bohatý a celistvý jarní koberec, dodržujte rozestupy mezi jednotlivými cibulemi 10 až 15 centimetrů, což v praxi odpovídá zhruba 50 až 70 kusům na metr čtvereční. Po výsadbě cibulky důkladně zalijte, aby mohly ještě před příchodem prvních silnějších mrazů dobře zakořenit. Následně už na podzim nevyžadují žádnou speciální péči a díky extrémní mrazuvzdornosti, která snese teploty až do -40 °C, přečkají zimu v zemi naprosto bez potíží, aniž byste je museli složitě zakrývat chvojím nebo jinou ochranou.
Během jarního růstu a kvetení v dubnu a květnu udržujte půdu mírně vlhkou, ale nikdy ne přemokřenou. Pokud plánujete krásné květy na pevných stoncích řezat do vázy, odřízněte je v momentě, kdy je poupě plně vybarvené, ale stále ještě bezpečně zavřené. Po odkvětu je klíčové neodstraňovat zelené listy. Nechte je na záhoně přirozeně zežloutnout a zaschnout, protože z nich cibule stahuje důležité živiny pro kvetení v dalším roce. Při pěstování si dávejte pozor na přílišné vlhko, které může způsobit plísně a hniloby, jako je šedá hniloba nebo fusariová hniloba. Občas se může objevit i virus mozaiky, který se projevuje deformacemi a nepřirozeným žíháním listů a květů – v takovém případě je nejlepší zasaženou rostlinu i s cibulí ze záhonu raději včas odstranit a vyhodit.
