Phlox Franz Schubert

Phlox is a perennial originally native to North America. It soon achieved great popularity in European gardens and has been systematically bred since the 19th century. It is a classic perennial for cut bouquets, where it delights with a delicate fragrance in addition to colorful flowers. We harvest as soon as roughly half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open; then it lasts up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars possible, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we pay careful attention to the correct choice of location. The Franz Schubert cultivar has pastel lilac flowers that fade towards the edge. The delicate flower color looks especially beautiful in combination with dark-leaved plants. It smells lovely.

Cultivation

Máta Variegata k vám dorazí jako silná a plně prokořeněná sazenice v květináči, kterou můžete rovnou přesadit na trvalé stanoviště. Nejlépe se jí daří na slunci nebo v polostínu, kde vyžaduje vlhčí, humózní a hlinitou půdu. Všechny druhy máty jsou robustní trvalky, které se rády a poměrně dravě rozrůstají do okolí pomocí podzemních oddenků. Měli byste jim proto dopřát na zahradě dostatek prostoru nebo použít pevné kořenové zábrany. Vysazujte je se sponem zhruba 40 centimetrů, což zajistí dobrou cirkulaci vzduchu kolem bujných keříků dorůstajících výšky 40 až 100 centimetrů. Zákazníci se nás velmi často ptají na pěstování na balkonech a v truhlících. Pro tuto rostlinu je to vynikající volba, stačí dodržet několik zásad:

Vyberte dostatečně velký květináč s drenážním otvorem na dně.
Použijte vlhkou, na živiny bohatou půdu a dbejte na pravidelnou zálivku.
Pěstováním v nádobě elegantně vyřešíte přirozenou rozpínavost rostliny.

Během sezóny vyžaduje tato vytrvalá bylina mírnou, ale pravidelnou zálivku, aby substrát nikdy zcela nevyschl. Péče o ni je naprosto nenáročná a hravě ji zvládne i úplný začátečník. Pro udržení kompaktního tvaru a neustálou produkci svěžích zelených lístků doporučujeme rostlinu pravidelně sklízet a zaštipovat. Od července do září vykvétá jemnými fialovými kvítky, které přitahují včely a motýly. Po odkvětu odstraňte odkvetlé výhony a proveďte mírný zpětný řez, čímž podpoříte růst nových výhonů a celkovou vitalitu. Dlouhé voňavé stonky jsou mimochodem velmi vhodné k řezu a dodají úžasný objem i vůni letním kyticím.

Obrovskou výhodou této odrůdy je její vynikající zdravotní stav – je totiž přirozeně zcela bez chorob. Během pěstování si stačí dát pozor pouze na občasný výskyt mandelinky mátové, kterou lze při zjištění snadno mechanicky odstranit. Rostlina je navíc extrémně mrazuvzdorná (klimatická zóna 6a) a hravě odolá silným mrazům až do -23 °C. Na záhoně přečká zimu bez jakékoliv speciální ochrany. Pokud ji však pěstujete v květináči, doporučujeme nádobu na zimu obalit textilií nebo bublinkovou fólií, aby nepromrzly citlivější kořeny, a umístit ji na chráněné místo kousek od zdi.
