Cultivation
Pěstování bazalkové máty je radostnou záležitostí, kterou s přehledem zvládne i úplný začátečník. Protože vám domů dorazí již krásně vzrostlá sazenice, můžete ji rovnou vysadit na trvalé stanoviště v zahradě. Ideální čas pro výsadbu je od jara až do podzimu. Vyberte jí místo na slunci nebo v mírném polostínu. Této rostlině se nejlépe daří v humózní a hlinité půdě, která dokáže dobře zadržovat vlhkost. Při výsadbě do záhonu dodržujte spon zhruba 40 centimetrů, což odpovídá asi šesti rostlinám na metr čtvereční. Vzhledem k tomu, že máta je velmi vitální trvalka a ráda se rozrůstá do svého okolí, je velmi praktické použít při výsadbě kořenové zábrany.
Tato aromatická bylinka je poměrně náročná na vláhu, proto dbejte na pravidelnou zálivku, aby půda v okolí kořenů nikdy zcela nevyschla. Velmi často se pěstuje také jako hrnková rostlina. Pokud ji chcete pěstovat v nádobě nebo truhlíku na terase, zvolte dostatečně prostorný květináč a kvalitní substrát bohatý na živiny. V nádobách zemina vysychá rychleji, proto bude vyžadovat častější zalévání než v běžném záhonu. Co se týče hnojení, není nijak náročná, postačí jí na jaře dopřát trochu uzrálého kompostu, který jí dodá sílu pro celou sezónu.
Během léta můžete pravidelně stříhat pevné stonky, čímž rostlinu nejen získáte pro využití v kuchyni, ale také podpoříte její košatější a zdravější růst. Bazalková máta je výjimečná tím, že netrpí žádnými běžnými chorobami. Jediným drobným úskalím může být škůdce mandelinka mátová. Pokud si všimnete těchto drobných brouků, stačí je jednoduše včas vysbírat rukou. S příchodem zimy nemusíte mít žádné obavy, protože rostlina je plně mrazuvzdorná až do -28 °C. Před zimou nebo brzy na jaře pouze odstraňte odumřelé a suché části, aby se uvolnil prostor pro nové jarní výhony.
