We harvest as soon as roughly half of the flowers in the inflorescence are open; then it lasts up to 10 days in a vase. Despite efforts to breed the most resistant cultivars possible, it remains true that Phlox reacts extremely sensitively to climate and soil conditions, so we pay careful attention to the correct choice of location. The Franz Schubert cultivar has pastel lilac flowers that fade towards the edge. The delicate flower color looks especially beautiful in combination with dark-leaved plants. It smells lovely.

Zázvorová máta je naprosto nenáročná trvalka, kterou od nás obdržíte jako silnou a dobře prokořeněnou sazenici, připravenou k okamžité výsadbě. Nejlépe se jí bude dařit na plném slunci nebo v lehkém polostínu. Vyžaduje především humózní a hlinitou půdu, která si dokáže dlouhodobě udržet příjemnou vlhkost. Při výsadbě na záhon pamatujte na to, že všechny druhy máty jsou poměrně robustní a rády se živelně rozrůstají do okolí. Z toho důvodu je velmi praktické ohraničit její prostor v záhonu kořenovou zábranou. Dodržujte doporučený spon výsadby kolem čtyřiceti centimetrů, což zajistí rostlinám dostatečný životní prostor a správnou cirkulaci vzduchu.
Tato voňavá bylinka se naprosto skvěle hodí i pro pěstování v nádobách a truhlících. Zvolte dostatečně velkou a hlubokou nádobu a naplňte ji kvalitním, na živiny bohatým substrátem. Pěstování v květináči je navíc vynikající způsob, jak mít její agresivnější růst neustále pod kontrolou. Ať už mátu pěstujete na záhonu nebo na terase v květináči, klíčová je pravidelná a vydatná zálivka. Rostlina miluje vlhkost a substrát by neměl nikdy úplně vyschnout. Během hlavní vegetační sezóny můžete občas přidat jemné organické hnojivo, aby měla dostatek síly pro tvorbu nových voňavých výhonů a levandulově fialových květů.
Během roku nevyžaduje zázvorová máta žádnou složitou péči. Zázvorová máta dorůstá do výšky čtyřicet až šedesát centimetrů, takže v záhonu snadno vytvoří bohatý trs. Tím nejlepším zásahem je vlastně její pravidelná sklizeň. Časté stříhání pevných stonků pro kulinářské nebo floristické využití funguje jako přirozený zpětný řez, který rostlinu podněcuje k dalšímu větvení a udržuje její kompaktní vitalitu. Obrovskou výhodou této odrůdy je fakt, že netrpí na žádné choroby a plísně. Jediným nepřítelem, na kterého si musíte dát během léta pozor, je občasný výskyt škůdce jménem mandelinka mátová. Pokud tyto drobné brouky na hladkých listech objevíte, stačí je včas ručně posbírat.
S blížící se zimou celá nadzemní část rostliny postupně odumírá. Suché výhony můžete odstranit už na podzim jako prevenci před škůdci, nebo je seříznout až brzy na jaře těsně nad zemí. Máta je extrémně mrazuvzdorná a na záhonu bez problémů odolá teplotám až do minus osmadvaceti stupňů, což odpovídá klimatické zóně 5a. Nepotřebuje tak žádnou speciální zimní přikrývku. Pokud ji ale pěstujete v nádobě, je vhodné květináč na zimu obalit jutou nebo bublinkovou fólií, případně ho přesunout ke chráněné zdi, aby tuhý mráz nepoškodil obnažený kořenový bal ze stran.

Mateřídouška Coccineus je drobná, ale nepřehlédnutelná trvalka, která do zahrady vnese nádhernou vůni a záplavu barev.
