Growing 'Pink Champagne' daffodils is easy even for complete beginners. As soon as your bulbs arrive, you can plant them directly into the garden bed or store them temporarily in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. The ideal time for planting is in autumn, specifically from September to November, before the soil freezes. Choose a sunny to semi-shaded location with permeable, humus-rich soil. Permeability is key, as bulbs can begin to rot in waterlogged soil. This cultivar will look beautiful at the front of perennial beds or under the canopy of deciduous trees, where it will find plenty of light in the spring.
Planting itself is very simple. Place the bulbs in the soil with the tip pointing upward, at a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters. The recommended spacing between individual bulbs is roughly 10 to 15 centimeters, which corresponds to approximately 30 to 40 bulbs per square meter if you want to create a truly lush and dense display. After planting, gently press down the soil and lightly water the bulbs to help them settle. During spring growth and flowering, daffodils require moderate watering. The soil should not dry out completely, but it should not stand in water for long periods.
In April and May, the plant will reward you with beautifully scented flowers in cream-white and pastel pink tones on stems 35 to 45 centimeters tall. They are excellent for cutting for vases, and in the garden, they will reliably attract the first spring pollinators. A great advantage is that this species does not suffer from any common diseases. Once the flowers fade, it is absolutely essential to leave the green leaves to naturally yellow and dry out. The plant draws important nutrients back into the bulb from them for the next season. Daffodils are fully frost-hardy down to an incredible -34 °C, so you can safely leave them in the ground all year round without worrying about complex winter protection.
